Ok so I have a fiesta as above and it needed a lot of work doing to it firstly it needed a clutch, secondly it had leaking injectors, thirdly it needed a timing belt change and forth it had a glow plug snapped inside the head so because of this I decided to take out the engine and do everything together. Doing this I then removed the head and sent it of for the glow plug to be drilled out and it to be cleaned up and when it returned the injectors were removed. I cleaned up the injectors using a wire wheel, proceeded with the rest of the work and built it back up with new parts including injector seal kit and leak off pipe kit, I finally got it back together yesterday primed the diesel (as I also fitted a new service kit including fuel filter) and cranked her over but she refuses to start. Cranks over fine but will not start. As i didnt remove the injectors im not sure if they have gone back in the same order. Please has anyone got any advice.

Thanks in advance.... Read more

Hi, a quick question around PCH. I entered into a 4 year lease contract where at the end of the period you hand the car back. If the car is written off I understand that the insurance company and lease finance company settle directly based in the car's current value. Is it as simple as this? If my lease contract was for a total of £8000 over the four years and I have paid out over £3200 to date, if my vehicle is valued at say £10,000 (it is only a year old and its sale value was £14000), am I correct that the insurers pay the lease company the money owed on the lease and I receive the rest? I am not responsible for any further money as the car has been written off and therefore cannot be returned at the end of the lease period?

I have had my 2006 Crv cdti executive for some years now.

A fantastic car, which was voted best 4x4 with the least problems.... Read more

Sounds very much like a specific issue to the Crv as cv joint normally just make a load clicking noise when failing.

Not sure who voted it best 4x4 as its more of a town even in 4x4 mode. Should be very reliable and honda's good will should go a long way to making a very good puchase.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a pack to fit an electric window switch for a VW High Up. I want to fit one so I can open the passenger side front window. I have been told they make one in Japan but it is quite expensive to buy from there. Any idea would be appreciated. Thank you Read more

Vectra's were 10 a penny in the 2nd hand car market, you could buy a half decent looking one for a few hundred quid, and many people did, figuring that because they picked it up so cheap it wasn't worth spending the same amount on good maintainence.

those same people looking to save a few quid would skimp on oil changes, or basic servicing...end result, a broken down Vectra....

As promised in another thread a few days ago, some thoughts on the past 30,000 miles - almost all positive thoughts. Not really a running report, as nothing's gone wrong (so far of course).

This is my third vRS estate - the first was a diesel manual, the second a petrol DSG, and this one a petrol manual. This isn't just me being fickle: I did 20,000 a year when I went for the diesel, following several other diesel cars. Mileage decreased to about 12,000 and the next one was fine except that I always felt that the DSG (although totally reliable) was holding the car's acceleration back. That certainly isn't the case with the current manual, which has the 217 bhp GTI engine and goes like a bomb.... Read more

Good report that, thanks Avant.

Silly the lack of colour and and tyre/wheel choice, when what you were really after was (as many of us) your choice of engine and gearbox but in a more sedate rolling chassis for normal not trackday use....

Manged to totally write off my front wheel arch wing (passenger side) today.
No other damage but the wing is well beyond panel beating. Anyone got any idea how much I'm looking at to get a new wing fitted and sprayed ?

eBay appear to have some for around £100 plain, or £170 sprayed/colour matched, however whilst insurance compliant not original VW. Does this matter?....

I'm guessing it's not a massive job once you have the wing, as far as fitting it goes?

Any advice would be appreciated, always found this forum very informative with previous enquires.

Thanks in advance , any tips or help most welcome. :)) Read more

If it's 2012, I'd go to the approved bodyshop. Some of these pattern parts aren't great and the reflections 'jump' from panel to panel.

Will the extra lubricity of premium grade fuel (e.g. Shell V-power) be detrimental to the bedding in of moving parts in a new engine?
