I've waited 5 years for an auto Outback times have changed - this spec is £5k overpriced, for the UK. May still test drive but need to travel 60 miles to nearest dealership, then consider against used CX5. Read more

US Price equates to £21,000 for a top spec car - admittedly not diesel but it has a big petrol engine with a TC gearbox + a lot more bells & whistles for the money.
UK EX-VAT price is roughly £27,000 - so more than £6,000 more expensive for a lesser spec
Subaru BRZ is priced equal to Toyota GT86 as they are the same car with different badges.........if it weren't for the Toyota version I am sure IM Group would have stuck another £3,000 on the ticket.

Hi, just over 3 months ago I bought a Peugeot 207 1.6 110, 06 plate, 57000 miles for £3600, about 3 weeks after it started coming up with a warning depollution system faulty took it back to the dealers he checked it, and told me it was the DPF and just needed some additive and a good blast, which it got but still coming up with the fault asked him if he was willing to repair it and said no.

Now when coming back from work the car suffered a sudden loss of power and makes a noise over 2000rpm, so instead of take it back too the dealer I took it to a pug garage to find out what's really going on, after a diagnostic check they say the ecu has 4 fualts (2 sensors, cold coils and a fault with the drive shaft) and that the turbos gone which would cost nearly 2000 alone to fix.. ... Hi ,
As always there are two issues in circumstances similar to your own .

First what consumer law says your entitled to , and second getting the dealer to fulfil his obligations .

Your clearly entitled to have the dealer pay for the repairs to your car ,you should write to the dealer telling him that you will give him two weeks to repair your car ,if he doesn't you will have the car repaired and pursue a case against him in the small claims court .What you have to consider is ,will he have the money to pay you ,when you win the case against him ,if your not sure you will waste the cost of a court case ,generally in the region of £300 .

In addition you say you financed the car ,if you used a credit card for the deposit or used a car loan to buy it ,you should contact them ,they are responsible for the quality of the goods they finance .

Finally ,you say your quoted £2000 to fix the turbo ,that's ridiculous ,I've bought reconditioned turbos from a firm in Darlington for £350 ,fitting is about £150 .Check e bay or online for similar prices .

Please let the forum know the outcome ,so others can benefit from your experience .

Hi
I have a 2006 Cmax 1.6 petrol which I bought two years ago.
The issue is, the car shakes between 50-60mph and has done since I bought it. I've had front wheels balanced and there's been no improvement. The steering wheel is not affected by the shaking and it also seems worse if engine is at higher revs - although not sure if that's just because car is travelling quicker through the 50-60mph range...

Any help much appreciated. Read more

Rear wheels out of balance will give a vibration you won't feel at the steering wheel.

I noticed just the other day that my header tank Is full of "Mayonaise" the kind you'd associate with oil and water mixing and emulsifying.

However If I remove the oil filler cap its completely clean in the head and the oil looks perfectly normal.... Read more

Can't remember if these are fitted with an oil cooler/heat exchanger on the back of the engine, between the oil filter and block. If these leak,it is possible to get oil in the coolant.

As a guide price, my daughter lost (turned up months later as they do) the only key for her previous Civic, found a chap via the net who drove an awful long way, supplied and programmed a plipper key at her house, charged around £150 IIRC.

I'm probably in a minority of one here, but I had the Berlingo up on ramps today giving as much of the exposed underside/components as possible a good dosing of ACF 50.

Won't be long before the salt starts to go down, and the MOT is due in November so it should make any remedial work easier as the nuts and bolts should be penetrated by then... Read more

You are not alone, emptied half a dozen cans of Hammerite underseal with Waxoyl over the underbody and suspensions of the Outlander last week, thats all ready for winter now, fully serviced had one of my brake full services earlier in the year...no not the usual garage idea of a brake service comprising of peering through the wheel and squirting brake cleaner in the general direction, a proper strip clean lube reassemble and bleed.

The lad and myself fully serviced his '07 Volvo S60 yesterday, that also needed mucho brake work as it had FSH and the brakes as expected hadn't been touched, so bad that the parking brake shoe friction material one side had parted company and was floating round in the drum....

I am unhappy with the work carried out by an RAC approved garage after my Focus brokedown.

They replaced the EGR and carried out a forced regen of the dpf, they handed the car back to me and it was smoking excessively. I was told that the excessive smoke was down to excess DPF fluid in the fuel and that it would calm down. I drove the car for no more than 5 miles in total before I decided that enough was enough. I checked the oil and there was about 2mm of oil left in the car.... Read more

It's a tough one this is. If your oil was low, does that mean it was low when it went in? I can't see why the garage would have drained your oil and in my opinion, it's your responsibility to check your oil every so often, especially on a diesel, seeing as they usually munch a bit. If I took my car into a garage for some work, I wouldn't expect them to top my oil up for me if it was low.

Hey - can anyone recommend a place that does alloy wheel repairs in the Crawley/Gatwick area? Got two scuffed alloys that need fixing before I sell my car. Not sure who to go so opinions welcome :) Read more

I suppose we should vote with our feet but it seems a bit drastic to not purchase a car on the basis of the alloys wheels fitted.

Most manufacturers give a choice of alloy, surely? Or simply insist!! If they want the sale...............
