I assume you put the anti knock springs back correctly.

hi thnks for the reply i understand it needs looking at but my problem is the mrs using it 7 days a week doing 60mile trip to work. and i use in the day so i need to get it sorted asap. but being a sunday noone is open to talk to so this is why i have come to here. could it be a simple cause of replace turbo with the information i have provided or does it sound like could be more? im not a machinc but i worked in a garage for 2 years when i was a bit younger so i am able to replace parts and what have you but i wasnt in the game long enough to learn the fault finding. i am confidant enough to do the work its just finding the problem, as cant afford to pay silly main dealer prices with moving house end of this month and also tax n mot in oct. all comes at once dont it oh and it looks like my bday on the 16th this month is canceled . lol

1149cc 16v Expression 2002. The car is not often used has not been started in at least 4 months. It's been garaged with the doors unlocked. Battery was fully charged before attempting to start it.
When you turn the ign on you can hear the fuel pump run for around 5 seconds. If you wait to crank the engine until after the fuel pump has stopped the engine will not turn over. If you crank the engine before the fuel pump has stopped it will only turn over for as long as the fuel pump still has to run. When the fuel pump stops the engine stops turning over. During the 3 or 4 seconds it will turn over while the FP relay is engergised there is no sign of it firing but that may be because it has been standing so long. I know this is a bit of a weird one but I really hope someone's got some ideas. Thanks. Read more
Thanks for your input Andy. I can crank the engine repeatedly without any sign of the battery failing, as long as I switch ign off between each go to make the fuel pump relay energise. If I wait until the fuel pump relay times out each time it wont crank over at all.
We all know we've just experienced the coldest winter in over 20 years and due to the lack of investment in the road network potholes became a hot topic earlier this year. I've just spent a week holidaying around East Sussx and Kent. The roads there are appalling. Potholes, sunken and raised manhole covers and everywhere worn out sections of top surface. Is there anywhere else in the country that's in a worse state? Read more
The roads West Yorkshire and particularly in Huddersfield have been bad for as long as I remember (I've driven here since 1961) but to be fair, there are specific reasons why:
1) Lots of heavy traffic across the Pennines used to use A roads through the town and now runs to and from M62 and M1/A1...
Car lost all power when i approached rouabout, i was in 2nd gear the clutch was down, the battery light was flashing.

There was a model upgrade around 2005 - identified by badgeson front wing under side indicators. Worth getting: suspension and seats.

Today the car started making whining noise as I drove out the gate. It seems to be the PS system. There's a leak somewhere, oily fluid deposited on the belt and wheels and dripping onto the ground. Immediately parked the car up before more dmage is done. I hear a rumour this is a common problem. Any suggestions as to the nature of the problem and likely cost of repair? Can I scream at the garage that I take it to and ask for a manufacturer covered repair? Based in Dublin.
Thanks in advance for any comments Read more

These models are not the most reliable car ever made - I'd never buy one - sell it while you can.
