For every occasion that a driver is caught exceeding a speed limit, I wonder how many times they've exceeded a speed limit and not been caught. What might be the ratio, do you think? Read more
I have a Renault Clio 16V Dynamique, 2003 and recently it had a knocking sound in the engine. I took it to my local Renault Garage, and they said that the Crankshaft Pulley is bent, and they are charging me £588.82! I cannot afford this, but am not sure wether that is a good quote or not.
If anyone can help me, I will be very grateful. Read more
If the crankshaft pulley is bent I would have thought the car was pretty impossible to drive? I think you need a second opinion. I am not sure what the heater blow has got to with anything.
A somewhat extreme case of non payment of parking fines and the consequences.

Hi folks, need some help. I have a 1990 MX5. The heater isn't quite as good as it was. Is it likely to be the matrix, if so, how difficult to fit and is it worth taking a chance on one from a breakers or better to buy new? ps company called MX5 Parts wants £200 for one which seems steep.
pps this car is the most reliable i have ever owned. I've had six mercedes and in the past few years the quality is just dreadful. The cars included an M-Class and an S-Class. Everything that could go wrong, did. Read more
Guess so.
Give us a hint?
Hi
Does anybody know if I can fit cruise control to my 110 hdi glx?
I fitted electric leather seats and they just plugged into the wiring which was already fitted to the car. Is it as easy as just buying the switchgear and plugging in or isnt the car equiped to do this?. I understand that i may need to go to the dealers and have it synchronised.
Any Ideas or am i flogging a dead horse

Hi there. I had the same thought once but my 2004 ditto doesn't seem to have any spare plugs hanging around (unlike my 1998 2.1td). Of course, you may be lucky. Yes, you will need to go to Pug to have your BSI reporgrammed, I can't remember how much it costs but it's not cheap. I'd suggest you first see if the wiring's there, then phone up your local friendly Pug dealer and see how much they'll want and work from there. While you're at it check out the price of an aftermarket one and do the math, it'll probaly be a lot easier and cheaper to fit, especially if the wiring isn't there.
I'd be very interested to know how you get on!

Hi just wonder if anyone can help, I am supposed to be picking up a car on friday, it was advertised on the autotrader, it was a trade sale. When I went to chat to the guy it was from his house, he was a student said he was a trader, used to buy cars from the students etc. His name is not on the log book, it was a company who was on there. I have HPI'ed the car and its come back ok, I checked the engine number from the HPI on the log book and they checked out.
I guess his name isnt on the log book because he was/is a trader, the car is parked outside so i would presume he is not trying to hide anything. The area is very dodgy but I know I cant hold that against this. When I looked at the log book there was a part missing which I presume was the bit to send back the DVLA, I cant get hold of them today to see if they can help me because there where shut due to the weather.
Im just worried if i loose my money for some reason , the autotrader hpi said they cant guarantee the car because its bought from a house thus this classed as a private sale, and his name is not on the log book.
What does anyone else think, i really want the car but not sure what to do?
Many thanks Read more
Its looking up, I have the details of the previous owners and spoken to the one on the log book and they confirmed it was sold last year at auction. Also spoke to the bmw site that actually serviced the car in october and its in the area im buying it and they confirmed the car was fine, mileage also adds up to... Guy said we can both nip to dvla to confirm everything before any transaction....
Hi
I have had my car check by two garagers one was my local garage and one was Nissan dealer.
My car a few days ago is laking in power almost like I am towing something.
It pulls ok from 0.30 ish ok but affter that when you start to notices the power loss,on a long stright road I can get the car to up around 65-75 but thats it then the car keeps changing gear as its strugling to accelerate.
the main dealer could not find a fault with the car aftter they plug it into there computers but did a reset on the ECU and also reset it to re-learn mode?
I have no warning lights on the dash and been told its posible autobox problem but seems abit unlikely at 38K and on a 04 plate car.
Also been told could be the mass air sensor.
Is there any body around who has had this problem or is there an expert on nissan as i dont wont to be changing parts for the sake of changing them.
also to add the gear box seems fine changeing gears revs little bit high but think thats down to the lack of power when trying to accelerate
also revs fine in neutral

I have removed the 918T ECU unit from my Rav 4.First I could not run the starter motor
until I was told to connect together the leads going to Pins 14 & 15 on the 15 pin socket. Others may be interested in this as it took me a while to find this out.
I was highly chuffed to find the starter motor now functioned . That was the good news, the bad news was that the car still didn't start.
It would appear I have also lost the ignition circuit.
Can anyone help please! Read more

Lud, thats the other scenario.
At summer hol time when I am driving from Glasgow to Channel Tunnel, quite often can "buddy" up with another driver who will do the same speed as me, overtake at same times, maybe swap positions a few times over the course of an hour or two till one or other pulls off for service station, sliproad etc.
