Hi :
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to sort out my 1999 Fiesta Diesel. 1.8 non turbo
The other half drove the car to the supermarket this afternoon , no problems until she tried to leave. It would not start , I found the diesel pump is turning but when turning over the engine there is no smoke at all.
Any thoughts where I should be looking for the problem please.

Ive had a bad idle problem since I got this car 8 months ago and Im still no closer to solving the problem. Ive done#
Coil Pack x2
Spark Plugs x 2
Temp Sensor (Needed doing anyway)
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
HT Leads x 2
Taken Voltage from Battery seems ok
Taken to Ford for a scan no codes they just updated my ECU software??
Cleaned the idle control valve
The problem is this when I stop at lights/junctions the engine vibrates, sometimes the whole car. It gets worse at night when lights are on etc and you can tell due to, flickering lights inside and out, when you have the rear heated window on, even the heater blowers slow down due to lack of power when idle. The whole car shakes. I have now borrowed a live data scanner from my friend but I need help reading the data and seeing if the readings are ok. Can anybody help this car is driving me mad now. Hi was just wondering if you managed to get to the bottom of your focus problems?
Your probs sound identical to mine....
Hi,
The wiper fuse blew in my Clio this morning. I have replaced it, but now the wipers don't return to the "home" position when switched off. Intermittent, low and high speeds all work. Is this a problem with a sensor in the motor or the relay? Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks Read more
In what position do the wipers stop when they're switched off ~ i.e. how far from the normal home/parked position?
Having had a problem found with my Heater Control Unit by a local garage sparks, I have a replacement unit.
I would like to fit it myself.
The sparks completly took apart the central consul.
Is there a logical process to replace this including radio etc?
Large question I know but if someone has already done it then it would save me alot of trial and error.
Thanks

if you mean heater control panel as in the 3 controls in the centre of dash then,
using a small flat bladed screw driver gently pry away the lower half of the plastic facia, this will reveal some screws. remove the ones securing the lower edge of the upper plastic fascia. next up you need to remove the stereo, if it's a standard fit peugeot unit then you need to push a straight hard object into the circular holes you'll be able to see, i usually use kebab skewers. (if it's an aftermarket stereo then they are usually removed with keys, you can get these from halfords if you don't have any.) once you have the stereo removed remove the metal cage if there is one. now in the aperture where the stereo goes there are two nuts (8mm iirc) one to the left and one to the right, they hold in the top half of the plastic facia, once that's removed the heater controls are fairly obvious, but are a pain to manipulate out of the dash.

A pal of mine has a 52 reg manual JTD Alfa and he tells me that his car has no engine braking. His dad has a Fiat with a JTD engine and when he bought it he apparantly commented about the lack of engine braking. We were talking about this and I suggested that these cars might have a freewheel facility. My pal said they didn't and it was down to fuelling. I didn't understand this and said I believed that engine braking resulted from resistance to turning due to good compression especially as they are diesels. Any comments would be appreciated as I would like to understand this phenomenon. Best Regards. Read more
>>I would want engine braking for general driving anyway.
There, we differ - I enjoy driving without engine braking, and being in control of the level of braking myself, rather than using the essentially fixed amount of braking given by the engine.
I know it ain't motoring but did anyone else hear on the news the pilot who had to land in the Hudson? With no thrust in his engines his communication with the control tower about having to land in the river was so cool and factual as to be amazing! Never again will I curse a middle lane hogger or that (woman!!???) with no lights on.
I aim to emulate the coolness of that pilot when driving!!!

After they plopped into the Hudson there were some close up photos taken from one of the boats that show the passengers on the wing with the water up above knee level and almost to waist level.
The camera shots were from very close to the water surface and showed all the icicles hanging under the bow of a rescue ferry boat.
Many had a close call after they left the aircraft.

So Bridgestone are doing a bikers' forum.
Does that mean you'll be manufacturing tyres anytime soon, HJ ?

A piece on p. 6 of today's Telegraph says lawyers are among the social categories most likely to be banned from driving for motoring offences. Others are doctors, vicars and, harrumph, police officers.
Do take it easy in all the ice and snow, what with the temptation to warm the cockles a bit from time to time, chaps, won't you? Read more
Not strange at all woodster, just goes to show that getting banned does not mean you are a bad driver.
We should maybe change the system and throw the book at people who actually cause accidents, rather than the ones that may cause accidents.
From an article in "The Daily Telegraph".
"Forecasters have warned that the freezing blast will continue through next week raising concerns that if the grit runs out then the country will not be able to cope.
The AA has now called on the Government to step in and ensure that salt stocks are maintained over the coming days."
Oh dear. The AA, bless their little cotton socks, seem to be rather naive. Read more
'As anyone speeding through a fixed camera painted yellow is driving without due care and attention (as they did not see it), it's called fleecing the idiots.'
and failing to grit roads when they have collected billions in road and motoring taxes is also called fleecing the idiots.

Just to let you know , thought I would try to start this morning & damn thing started straight up , drove to work in Snow OK, left work at 9am in blizzard started again fine & drove home without missing a beat.
Now I wonder if its going to do it again.
Many thanks for all your help.
