Hi :
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to sort out my 1999 Fiesta Diesel. 1.8 non turbo
The other half drove the car to the supermarket this afternoon , no problems until she tried to leave. It would not start , I found the diesel pump is turning but when turning over the engine there is no smoke at all.
Any thoughts where I should be looking for the problem please.

Either there is no fuel getting to the pump - faulty stop solonoid or no 12v on it, or you have a massive air leak somewhere on the fuel feed. The worst case scenario is that the cam belt has slipped and broken the cam shaft, is it turning over faster than normal?

check the stop valve wire hasnt dropped off..it might be hard to see as the metal plate above the pump is in the way..also check the fuel pipe that runs across the front of the engine bay as this can chaff through causing a air leak....check the glow plugs are working...check for fuel at injectors..

Just to let you know , thought I would try to start this morning & damn thing started straight up , drove to work in Snow OK, left work at 9am in blizzard started again fine & drove home without missing a beat.
Now I wonder if its going to do it again.
Many thanks for all your help.
