1997 1.9 td lights not working - motox
help ive had this problem since i got the car but its been intemitant , all lights just go and the heater fan has something to do with it , the first time it happened i turned the heater fan on and bam, no lights but them came back straight away then it did it again and i only had side lights and if i tried to turn the main beam on it just turn them all off again for 5 minites then i could use only the sidelights again i parked up at work left it for an hour or so came back and it was working again so i thought no more an it just did it in the dark so thats the end it needs to be fixed this time i didnt touch anything and the lights arnt coming back yet ? help the heater fan also isnt working at this point HELP please:)

You have a bad connection somewhere in one of the main supply leads. Check the fues holders, poor connections are not unknown. If you have a circuit, check what is common to the lights and heater. The heater fan takes quite a bit of current, on XMs the heater supply fuse burns up. Look at all the high current fuses, probably 30a and check for signs of burning.

ive been fiddling with fuses but il have another go :) ive made some calls and people are saying it could be the ignition switch, ive been looking through the wiring diagrams and the ignition switch it involved in all the lights and heater diagrams so il check that to, but hey the car only cost 50 quid and its been going great for a month:P im bound to have troubles
