Well.. you would think it would be - wouldn`t you?

What happened to all the home bio and straight veg oil cars - with this `exceptional snow event, persistently bullying particles now falling` (news) winter?
Do they switch back to regular derv in winter? Or are they sold on - with tanks full of marrowbone jelly? On a sort of - no longer my pal - basis.....

I've never yet had a problem that was attributable

to the fuel

It was a tongue in cheek comment, hence the smiley.

I want one of those cars, what is it, 45 years service is very good, especially without the Millers..;)

Hi
Considering buying a Mazda 626 S reg. The cam belt was done at 54000 miles and now it has 102000 on the clock, should this be done again now?
It's up for £895, 6 months MOT and tax, FSH but has a little rust around the wheel arches.
The back suspension hangs very low so suspect it's been towing but shocks will be replaced as part of the deal. Any thoughts?
They sound like great cars, I don't mind if it's boring! Read more

I have a Mazda 626 diesel V reg which I think will be the midlife updated version of the car you are considering. So far I have done ~170k miles. It's been a very reliable car with no major expenses other than the cambelt changes every 54k miles. If I were you I would get the garage to change the cambelt before you buy.

This is a bit of a strange one and I don't know if anyone will even be interested, but here goes!

I have fitted a s14 200sx engine and gear box into an e30 bmw, in the nissan everything ran fine, I have put everything in the bm including the full wiring harnes. When I start the car with the afm disconnected it will rev fine up to 2500 where it seems to hit a rev limiter, as soon as I reconnect the the afm it struggles to idle and won't rev at all. Does this sound like the afm has been damaged in storage? The two wires in the afm look in tact.

Please someone help.

Thanks, Rob. Read more

Hi,

Just bought a 58 reg Zafira life, but am worried about the lack of a spare wheel.

If I go hunting around the scrapyards - What other VX models use the same rim. I suspect the Vectra C? but am looking for confirmation

Evening all, great forum.

Have a small problem...

Had my eyes on an A6 3.0 TDi quattro for a little while and finally found one (2005 model) at a franchised garage.

Asked all the usual and model specific questions I could find including the obvious does it have a full history, to which the reply was, yes, we'll do a computer printout of all the work that has been done.

Fine thought I. Picked it up last week, went away for the weekend and I took a quick look at the service details. According to the book the first service was done at 48k, just before I picked it up.

Now, this raises a few questions for me I'd appreciate some pointers on;

1. Providing this is true, can I reject the car (it is an Audi Approved vehicle)?
2. What sort of damage might have been done by only just having been serviced after 3.5 years and 50k?

Any ideas?

Will be speaking to them tomorrow...

I'd be straight back to the dealers, politely but firmly asking to speak to the dealer principal to get this resolved one way or the other. It clearly doesn't have the history you were led to believe it has, unless they can produce something othewise. Have you got the V5 back? If so, contact the previous owner and find out what they have to say about it.

I have a slight problem with the central locking/alarm on my Corolla 1994 1.6Gli.

It has an optional toyta alarm system, specified as an extra when the car was new by the original owner.

When the weather is cold, usually below 5C when I unlock the car from the drivers door (only this door operates the central locking//alarm), the central locking often will not unlock the other doors, and the alarm goes off when I open the drivers door.

Sometimes the central locking opens, but the alarm doesn't switch off......

Central locking works fine from inside the car - using the dashboard locking switch, so doesn't appear to be a fault in the solenoids operating the locks.

I have tried the usual WD-40 into the drivers lock which sometimes sorts it out, but the problem regularly returns after a day or two, and often it doesn't cure it.

unusually it NEVER does it when the temp is above about 5C - so only on coldest days of winter, never in summer. It doesn't seem to be affected by rain.... just exterior temp.

I am not v. popular with neighbours etc. with young babies with the alarm going off if I open the car at night, and there is no way of locking the car without switching the alarm on as well that i can see.

Clearly the central locking and alrm are linked, but where do I start sorting this prob out.

Is it a new lock barrel, or is there something else in the drivers door to do withthe centrallocking I should be stripping out and lubricating/cleaning ?

Haynes manual does not give any info on the alarm (it is a re-write of US model manual, so some stuff isnot covered)

I have a March 2008 Fiesta Blue with only 6000 miles on. There is a knocking noise when I turn the wheel mostly "hard lock". The problem is it doesnt do it all the time and it mostly does it from cold. When I took it to the main dealer they said they needed to hear and wait until it is doing it all the time so they can identify it but I am getting worried and dont know what to do
Can anyone please help me?

My Focus TDCi barely gets warm on my 12-mile commute in this weather.

So I've just covered the radiator grille with bodge tape in an effort to reduce the throughput of air.

Do you think it will make any difference?

...diesels run cooler than petrols...

If I open the bonnet of my 1.8 diesel Focus after a good run, I can't feel much heat.

Do the same on my brother's 1.8 petrol Civic and the heat hits you.

In that sense, diesels run cooler than petrols.

Hi All

I would really appreciate some advice, last night while driving home my battery light started to flicker and my headlights went really dull then bright again all the way home.

When i got home i stopped the car then started it again and it started no problem so i must be getting some charge through to the battery.

I checked the battery today with a voltage meter and with all the electrics on i was getting readings between 11.6 - 13.2 and with all the electrics off i was getting about 13.0 - 13.7 =. the light flickers away all the time and it dosen't make any difference whether your not using any electrics or you have everything on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance,
