Just came across a firm called Japan Spares that lists a pollen filter for 1997-2000 Prelude. First I've heard of one - does anyone know if one is actually fitted and, if so, where it is?

I've never had any aircon smells in the Citroen, either, not even garlic!
Road tolls in the Peak District have been mooted for traffic passing through, for some years.
I recently have noted that there appears to be some large rectangular marks on all the roads near the park's boundaries. Some of them are highlighted with crack testing (?) green dye.
I fear these are the automatic sensors needed for the tolling.
Does anyone know if this scheme is being pushed ahead or am I just paranoid?

pushed ahead im afraid
I'm thinking particularly on motorways here, places where there aren't any pedestrians, blind junctions, cyclists etc. Sometimes it'll be traffic conditions, but what about when traffic is flowing freely?
Is it a threat of a ticket? Or a ban? Is it because you don't want to break the law? Some in-built danger detector in your head, and you think excess speed will cause an accident, or make a worse accident if you have one?
Let me know your secrets of sticking to the speed limit, or why you stick to your own "limit". Read more
I used to think like that.
No but look garethj, they go on at me like this all the time, if you really want to stay cool finewise just make sure you're no more than 5mph over the alleged limit when the flash goes off.
Tiresome and slow, but safe.
Over the years even I have become the sort of driver you would call a mimser if you didn't know where the cameras were.
Luton Schmuton. London Schmondon.
And people have started to allege that you can't even go quickly on the way to Prague now.
It's a minefield. Don't doubt it. Australia? Argentina? Can't actually think of anywhere else with proper roads and relatively thin enforcement.
On my motorcycle trip to Switzerland I spotted lots of lorrys displaying TIR signs. What does it mean? I remember them being quite common in the UK but don`t see them anymore. Read more

Saw his rebuilds of 1930s Auto Union GP cars at Donington a few years ago
- absolutely fantastic (especially the noise!)
Phil
Yes I saw these at Donington too - along with one of one of the original quattro rally cars (à la Michèle Mouton/Walter Röhrl), some sort of touring race car and the Audi R8 Le mans winner. The last three were out on track at the same time - with the quattro cornering spectacularly, the R8 doing about 2 laps for every 1 of the quattro, and the comparatively uninteresting (for me) touring car somewhere in the middle. Maybe it as the same occasion?
Sad that Gardiner should leave us so relatively young. I especially enjoyed this bit from the Telegraph article with his slightly non-pc quote -
[quote]When Audi insisted on manufacturing the V16-cylinder engine crankshaft for these cars, it failed Gardiner's rigorous inspection; and when an Audi committee quibbled endlessly over technical details Gardiner told them: "Listen, all you've got to do is sign the cheques and tell us how big you want the swastikas painted."[unquote]
got a 01 Saxo vtr ( 8 valve), cam belt was changed 35k ago, just cleaned the cover for it, and noticed there is some play in the belt, not across the top pulley,
but from the top pulley to the bottom one, where the belt is facing the front of the car, there 15/20mm or so of free movement, that ok?
flaps a bit, engine was cold, car has done 84k
now am i right in saying, that only part of the belt is under tension?!
should i worry?

yes indeed! parts ordered! belt kit and water pump! thanks to all!
The back room often has comments about dealers in the UK. In case anyone's interested, here's my recent experience of a Ford main dealer near Chicago.
I had the 30,000 mile service on my Taurus (sort of a Ford Mondeo/Sierra type of vehicle for anyone who's never been here)
I got to work and they phoned me with some stuff which 'needed doing'....
Loose suspension ball joint $362
That would also need wheel alignment $125
Pollen filter $49
Dirty coolant $118
Brakes very low $230
so far I am thinking hmm... maybe that does need doing (except the pollen filter - for $49 I don't mind ingesting a bit of pollen!)
Then "wipers are squeaky - $29". That kind of made me wonder about the other items!
Anyway the transmission fluid, oil change, fuel and air filter change came to $275 inclusive.

Hello everyone, i am the proud owner of a 2000 e46 320d, on my way rushed way home tonight i appear to have killed the turbo somewhere... it still drives, although with absolutely no power at all and makes a noise similar to that of a vibrating (tin sounding) heatshield... although gets worse with engine speed (ie. turbo flaps!).. this, tied in with the smoke that has a similarity to that of a small forest fire coming from the exhaust i have took a 'guess' that i have knackered the turbo!!
i have noticed that the rover 75 diesel uses a similar.. if not the same engine as this, although mine i believe was the earlier/earliest 320d around, believing that it is not electrical and therefore cannot use the latter model turbo.. are they still specific to particular mood Mr Bmw decided to fit to him when he was building my car? or could i slap a random one off of a rover 75/ freelander T4 or any other thing i could find which would widen my search on the ebay home page?!
am sorry that my first ever post, was not of an introduction but more as a HELP... PLEASE, but my name is OLI (OLIVER) and would appreciate anything given right now!!
many thanks

try replacing the MAF it worked on mine when I had the exact sounding same problem & the new MAF didn't need re-programming by the BMW dealer.
I developed the same problem a couple of weeks ago, so I fitted a new MAF, but it didn't cure the problem, so I booked it in with my local BMW dealer Bowker @ Preston, they reprogrammed the whole car & took it for a road test. Upon testing the car, the engine still wouldn't rev under load, but revved lumpy in neuteral.
In the end they diagnosed it as the EGR, so I now have a spare MAF at a very reasonable price for anyone requiring it !

The only speed limit that is different for towing and solo vehicles is the National Speed Limit, ie 60/70 on dual carriageways and 50/60 on single. Where any other speed limit applies then there is no difference when towing. For example, on any dual carriageway with 60/50/40/30 limit posted, the same limit applies to towing and solo vehicles - they may of course have a lower limit imposed because of their vehicle class (HGV, LGV etc).
The DVLA database can be, and is, checked by many computer processes as the vehicle class is recorded against the registration number - the camera doesn't need to detect the type of vehicle.
I suspect a bit of a black hole exists when photographing trailers because the tow vehicles registration plate can't usually be seen from behind so the registration on the trailer has to be used which may (illegally) differ from the tow vehicle!
