Anyone got any idea ewhy the "recirculating flap motor" should start to emit a "ticking" noise ? Checking the electrics, it appears that voltage is being applied to the motor regularly - even with the ignition off and the doors locked.
Has the unit a limit switch that maybe isn't actuating ? Should the voltage be there ? Where is it coming from ?

5 YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY.
there is nothing else to add frOm a value point of view.
The only other consideration for a small business is - can you get the same reliability from another Jap/Pacific Rim manufacturer but have a car better designed for your needs/type of driving.
When we purchased our first and second Daihatsu Sirion it was a straight choice between the Sirion and the Getz.
Previously, I personally always purchased Hyundai due to their cheap upfront costs.
And the 5 year warranty since 2002 has made them even more tempting.
However, I got the Sirions at a good price, and they have proven to be just as reliable but more tailored to our needs and requirements.
Nearly all the Hyundai dealers I use look around are now charging near list price for all vehicles.
The lack of Hyundai deals has sent me to Daihatsu.
One more thing I would like to add.
£15k for a i30 diesel auto is to expensive.
more like £11k to get the sales figures Hyundai are craving.
Their brand is still not 'over' yet.
Hi i have a 306 d turbo and have it tuned. I have recently been told that removing the egr valve can increase bhp. is this true, if so how do i go about removing it. Cheers

One of the first things I do when I get a new car is check under the bonnet to see whether there are any hoses/cables that can chafe on something else when the engine moves relative to the car body. Anything that looks vulnerable I put 19 mm wide PVC tape around at the point of contact. I first started doing this when I had a car in which one of the heater hoses nearly chafed right through and had to be replaced. I've treated 7 hoses/cables this way on my 03/03 2 litre Focus. I'd sooner be safe than sorry.

So I am not the only one .........

He may well have got away with it (and may do still) but advertising it
(a VX220) on the VX220 forum was always going to be risky.
That's the problem with buying such a distinctive and rare car - he bought it to repair purely out of greed. If he'd bought a Ford Focus or Vauxhall Corsa with unrecorded damage, he could've made a tidy profit selling it on Autotrader, no questions asked. Having the audacity to buy a VX220, and then to sell it via a group of experts/anoraks was a huge error.
Due to a "change in circumstances" it looks like I will soon have a Mazda6 as a company car.
Anyone got any views on them?
Thanks!

I bought one in April this year its a diesel Ts2 hatch 06 face lift model with six speed box just over a year oid when I got it off the first owner for 12K and a bit!
Well pleased with it goes well, handles great not bad on power or derv 43 mpg on work run could get 46 on a longer run
Build quality, materials not quite up to German standards and doors don't have the clunk you get with even an Octavia. However nothings has fell off rattles or leaks yet and seats are very comfortable. It don't burn oil in fact it gaines it! bet some vag owners would appreciate that
Appears to have been designed and built by people or robots who care about what they make and to me as a private owner thats more important than doors that clunk shut or a badge
It tows may caravan like I don't even notice it's on the back!
Last but not least it gets up to temp faster than any other diesel I tried and it won't wake the neighbours if you go out early

I'm going to buy a Karcher pressure washer tomorrow from Argos. Just would like to know what you guys think of Karcher pressure washers? Anything in particular I should be looking out for? Its for personal use and I'm set for one with 1400 watt motor. Thanks Read more
Another option is Wickes DIY store , they are Lavour brand machines which are very good washers
Today I parked in the same street I,ve been parking in for 30 years. When I returned to the car every car in the row had a parking ticket. Apparently this weekend this area became a disabled parking area . There is now a sign as u enter the street (very busy junction with 3 crossings in seaside town center) and at the other end (not much point as its 1 way) but no sign at the side of the road or markings on the road. Is this legal? Even the staff from the shop I parked outside did not know this or all the unsuspecting people queing to take the spaces as soon as one victim drives off. The traffic warden obviously realises this and was just walking up and down the road ticketing everyone. If there had been a sign at the side (as with permits) I would have seen it. I expect to pay because lifes like that but if this is not 100% legal then I will argue my case. hope this does not appear twice as I posted into cyberspace earlier.

And then a multi £ Bill to clear up their filth when they move on! It could only happen in our green and unpleasant land!
Hello ladies and gents, hope you are all well.
I came on here about 6 months ago, to get peoples opinions of a suitable car for the Student version of the gumball rally, that we have entered at the end of this month, to raise money for Childeren's Cancer trust. Now with 2 weeks to go (due to some family problems) we are still yet to purchase a car, so this weekend has been dedicated to the search.
We want something a bit different, with a big engine that will get us round our 4000 mile trip to Southern Spain and back with the minimum of hassle, in the maximum of comfort. Short-list so far is:
Jeep Cherokee 4.0
Mercedes 300TE/S-class (if we can find one in budget
BMW 5/7 series (530/535)
Range Rover 3.9
Or any other suggestions!
Help is really appreciated guys!!

The best Omega you can get - even Jeremy Clarkson said they were the most comfortable cars to ride in the back of that he'd ever ridden in (the audience laughed) and he reiterated that he had been in all sorts of Mercs etc.. and the Omega was by far the best.
I've just been to buy some visitor parking permits at my local authority here in London (Lambeth) and noted that they have brought in variable charges for residents' permits based on CO2 emmissions. Top band is now £200 a year (and I think that is just for starters - how much next year?)
It's got me thinking - the UK market (outside of the company car tax regime and all its various changes over the years) has never been hugely influenced in the past by tax levels in terms of the cars bought (beyond cars that are heavy on fuel being expensive to run).
Now that there are both car tax itself and if required residents permits rated quite exponentially on CO2 emissions can you see the market moving more to what used to happen in France that effectively a car with much more than a 2.0ltr engine was very rare indeed.
Will many more people will be driving the smallest engine in a car with economy oriented features (as French market cars often were - basic spec, skinny tyres and small engines) or even moving down a size in car and having reasonably well off people tootling about in superminis? (as someone else has remarked here about non-snobbish car attitudes in France).
I wonder whether if the tax system moves ever more to penalise CO2 that cars like the Sirion or very tweaked economy models of mid sized cars might become the norm and a big engined small or medium car might be a thing of the past.

I just wonder if the tax level on car rises past £500 whether it becomes a tipping point and will lead to a dramatic drop in sales? Will people driving Range Rover Sports etc start to take notice or not?
What always surprised me is when the congestion charge was introduced that retailers in some high end locations in London claimed that they were getting few of their rich customers driving in to shop in Marylebone High Street etc. even though in the grand scheme of things £5 was not alot compared either to the customer's car, the parking charges or the cost of whatever they were going to buy eg expensive clothes or food. I wonder if the car tax level went up for such people if they also would react as illogically and ditch the larger/big engined car and drive round in something much smaller (as you see in places like Milan/Rome/Paris where u see many fewer Mercs and alot more Smart cars/Lancia small cars etc.

Sorry, I'm new to this forum. The make/model is Vauxhall Vectra C ('02 to'56 reg).
I did fill that in on the pro-forma but it didn't get into the title.
