Hi everyone,

Ive been searching the web for hours trying to find an answer for this but ive found nothing so I thought I owuld sign up to a few forums to se eif anyone could help.

I need to change the passenger side headlight bulb on my 1998 ford fiesta zetec 1.25. It turns on to parking light OK but when I turn it up to my main driving lights it stays on the parking light. If I switch on full beam then it works OK.

Ive bought a new driving light bulb but I cant for the life of me figure out how to get to the headlight housing as there is all sorts of engine chassis and tubes etc in the way.

Does any one know how it is done as I am going to be doing a long night drive on Thursday and I want to get it sorted before then.

By the way the drivers side headlight still works fine.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!!

Hey!
Thanks for the reply!

I followed your instructions and it worked first time!

Thanks so much!! Thats saved me a few quid instead of getting the garage to do it!

Cheers!

Does any one know of a way of exchanging worn out or broken Snap On tools by post? I emailed Snap On UK, and they referred me to my local Snap On man, but he's quite elusive - mostly, I suspect, because I've never bought any new tools from him as I've accumulated most of my collection through ebay.
Any ideas? Read more

In Essex, there was(and may still be)a Snap-on warehouse in the area(Basildon). We could buy and collect from there.

Yesterday dear beloved daughter phoned - had left courtesy light on her sports car for two days and now vehicle refused to start.

Obviously flat battery so round to hers with jump leads. Connected up and donor car running.....zonk... nothing when car ignition turned. Neither was there anything from horn or lights.

Connected super duper Airflow battery Condition/Charger (as HJ recommended) and all I got was the 'power'on light and no light at 'compensating'

So couldn't get any charge into battery.

Home Breakdown called out - attended with boost battery pack and got vehicle started.

So, you knowledgeable lot - why couldn't I get juice into battery?

These rather neat-sounding Lidl chargers are on-sale again from today (in certain regions), even cheaper than before at £2.99.

www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070730.p.Ca...1

I downloaded their instructions from the web, it confirms they'll charge any battery showing at least 7.5volts across the terminals (lower will be rejected, but you can always "zap" it first with a boost charger or jump-leads to get it charging); "pulse" charging mode to revive deep-discharged batteries if necessary, then ~3.6A bulk-charging, followed by indefinite intermittent charging at ~14.4V to keep topped up and prevent sulphation of the plates.

Hi folks, For some time my Peugeot 306 was jumping out of 5th gear. Irritating, but a light touch on the gearstick could usually keep it in. Last time I had some work done on it, I mentioned the problem to Mr Mechanic, but he either wasn't able to do anything about it or just didn't look at it.
The work he did cost me 600 euros and that was quite enough!!
Anyway, guess what.... now it won't go into 5th at all. It's OK as I take my foot off the clutch but as soon as I touch the gas pedal it pops out and continued pressure on the gearstick makes for a very unpleasant grinding feeling/noise.
So on Monday, it's back to see Mr Mechanic again.

Another mechanic mate said it could be a simple job, ie cheap, or it could be a big job, depends what the problem is. Not a great deal of help really but he did suggest just changing the gearbox instead of trying to strip it down and correct the problem.
My question is this..... Anyone encountered this before? Will changing the gearbox sort it out?
Thanks.

I was at the dealers yesterday having a key coded (separate topic!) and the service manager asked if I had had a letter from Honda UK about having the EGR changed - specific VIN codes are being recalled to be fitted with a modified valve. As it happened, I haven't had the letter, but the SM off his own bat phoned me shortly after I left to say that my car was in the affected range and I should book in to have it fitted gratis, with a loan car provided.

The modified valve is said to address a 'hesitation' problem.

Hondas apparently are not immune to problems; but full credit for not just waiting for the customers to do the QC, and to the dealer for actively checking and calling me. Read more

Hello folks,

I've not been round too much over the last few months due to work, women etc but i'm sort of back now and could do with your help!

I've have recently had my Golf GTi up for sale and was messed about by the ebay winner but have managed to arrange a sale with someone else. They are flying over from dublin to pick it up and will be taking it back to the republic with them.

What i need to know is how do i fill the V5 in to show it has been exported. From looking at it i just need to fill in the purple section 11 and send that off to swansea but do we need to fill in section 5 "new keeper" details as well?

Cheers

Well the car has gone now, i've filled in the export section and will send that off, we both signed the V5 but he took it with him as it will be needed to register it in ireland.

I couldn't see why the DVLA should need the new owners details as surely they wouldn't send a logbook to the republic.

Anyone got any recommendations for vacuum cleaners for the car? I usually use my upright Dyson with the brush and nozzle attachments but this can be cumbersome and I have difficulty reaching certain areas like down between the seats and the handbrake.

I see Aldi have one just now which is rechargable for about £15 or so but is it a case of after using the Dyson, anything else is going to be a poor substitute.

(I realise that Dyson do a small rechargable one but last I saw it was £100 and had received a poor review).

Any advice appreciated.

Hello forum,

I'm after a bit of advice. My 03 plate Focus 1.8 tdci broke down last week and after a week and a half of trying to figure out the problem, the garage has told me it is the ecu which controls the immobiliser on the fuel pump. Said they'd only ever seen one like it before. They've got to import the part as there's none in the country.

I've been quoted £1,100 to repair the problem. Does this sound right?

There is no immobilizer on the fuel pump of a TDCi. That was the old-type Ford diesel with the rotary pump.

Get it taken to a diesel specialists for a second opinion. [About 80% of this sort of fault is cam position sensor failure.]

The fact that it removes tarnish from copper coins suggests that it contains acid ~ probably nitric acid, from my fading memory of chemistry lessons.
