For big kids everywhere. It looks fantastic, but sadly my kids really are too big for this.

Lounge Lizard

Not gory but I shudder every time I watch it.

It's a motorcyclist having a head-on collision with another motorcyclist.

The motorcycle had an on-board video camera, and drifted onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with another motorcycle coming in the opposite direction (on the correct side of the road).

Hope someone (Aprilia maybe ?) can help.

When I start the engine all the warning lights go out and the car runs very quietly & smoothly.

After around 10 to 20 seconds there are 2 short beeps from the passenger footwell / centre gear lever console area.

The Nissan Sat Nav was disabled before I bought the car - could it be searching for a CD for the Sat Nav or is it something else.

It sounds more like a reminder type sound rather than a warning sound.

Am I being stupid, is it some car stereo sound ?

Thanks for your replies in advance

On Vauxhalls this kind of beep genrally means the backup battery in the alarm has had it, maybe it's the same for Nissans.

Happy Blue!

I never thought I'd see one in the flesh in my lifetime, but there was one at the health club yesterday evening. Quite an ordinary looking bloke driving it (late 30s not flash) but there was no room for his woman, so the kit when in the passenger seat and she drove off in a Punto! Reversing it was difficult and she had to guide him back even though there was loads of room.

Had a good look inside - very well trimmed and very attractive in an updated 1960s aircraft cockpit sort of way - lots of Smiths dials and machined knobs/switches etc.

I fancy one - how much!!!!

Must admit though, seems to have more soul than my beloved Lamborghinis have now. Read more

Strange that both sides in one case refused to accept the black box's figures and preferred the forensic estimate. That's on a par with working out someone's weight from his height and build and refusing to accept the reading from a set of scales!

I got an oil and filter change from a small independent mechanic yesterday.

3.5 litres oil - 12.25
Filter £4.87
30 mins labour - £15.00
VAT - £5.62
Total - £37.74

In the shiny glass and chrome dealership a mile up the road it would cost about £20.

I am quite happy, and have no complaints. This small guy struck me as decent and competent. But I am curious as to why the dealer is so much cheaper.

The only clue is that the guy asked me if I had the oil and filter or if I wanted him to supply them. Read more

>>It's up on the ramp, full and thorough drain through the sump.>>

Same here.

However the Ormskirk outlet's staff have never made any attempt to try and land additional work.

After oil and filter change is done and dusted, I go and pay the bill whilst the car is being parked on the forecourt.

But I know where I will go when I do need new tyres or other fast fit items...:-)

I bought a cambelt kit containing cambelt, tensioner and idler but have been told that a part called a 'damper' is also required. Surely it should have been provided with the cambelt kit if it is part of the assembly. Also what is a damper and what does it do.

Thanks. Read more

I think the cam belts on the newer 2.0 PD engines are a bit wider and hence a bit more durable now, due to the previous reputation of PD cam belts.

Wife's thinking of changing her car again. We just don't get on with the c-Max (too many rattles and nasty plastic bits)

Currently has : C-MAX 2.0 TDCi ZETEC, 54 plate, 22000 miles.

We've seen a RENAULT SCENIC 1.5 dCi (86 BHP) Expression, 55 plate 11000 miles

Price to change £1,500. (main dealer)

Questions :

(1) Opinions on the scenic versus c-max?
(2) Opinions on the reliability of the Scenic?
(3) Opinions on the cost to change?

We accept performance will be worlds apart, but as she's not a petrol head, this doesn't matter.

THANKS.....

Doesn't make financial sense to me but if you want a Scenic:

The 1.9 (or if you can afford it the 2.0) is the best diesel engine in the Scenic. 1.5 will struggle.

Change the oil at 9K and only use the specified synthetic.

Check all the electrical toys work - and there are quite a few.

Use Kumho rather than Continental tyres if running on 17 inch wheels.

The Sirion has now hit 60,045 miles in it 1.0 engine.

And may I add - 60,045 trouble free miles.

The car is a joy to own,
averages 61mpg including a 40 mile motorway round-trip each day
Carries 5 adults with ease - 5 doors as standard a big plus
Enough power for around town
Air con is great
Handles with ease - very easy to park
good, easy to use while driving stereo.

an aboslute delight to own and run - highly recomended. Done nothing to it, except the service.

Downside -
bit noisy if going over 90mph

We are considering another one (now only £6500!) depending on what they give me as trade in for the hyundai elantra.

Yes shares many yaris parts and components.

same 1.0 engine.

and unlike the perodua - built in japan.

the boot is fine for grocery shopping - but the seats fold flat for bigger loads - another key decision for buying the car.

And they take seconds to put back - very flexible car design.

As I said - this is a very well designed car.

Especially when you consider its dimensions are smaller than a KA!

I only wanted to give people an update about something positiive for once.

Normally when I am on here, i moan about the ammount of hyundai junk I have suffered in the past.
