I want to replace the coolant in my Polo (1996). The stuff that's in there at the moment is blue and the expansion tank says it is G10.
I got a new bottle of coolant from my local VW agent and the stuff they gave me is pink and is labelled as G12. They don't sell the G10 stuff any more.
Question - do I need to flush out the coolant system thoroughly before refilling and if so what is the recommended procedure?

SEAT Toledo 2.0 SXE. £2,000 should get you a mint 1998ish example and probably £500 change.
Essentially a MKII Golf (OK a MKII Jetta with stretched floor pan if you want to be technical).
Everyone hates them no one knows why. Absolute bargain.
Hi Guys
The Air bag warning light is intermittantly staying on. It stayed on most of last week just been out this morning and nothing.
I tend to ignore it but mrs mm is worried that the air bags could deploy without warning is this possible?
anyone any ideas what the problem is?

Or the clock spring in the steering wheel boss, is it triggered while manouvering, parking etc? Not an expensive job though not ideal DIY due to pyrotechnics.

Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody can offer me any advice on selling the private plate on my car?
I have never sold a private plate before.
What should I do? How do I go about it?
Can anyone recomend any of these companies that deal in cherished numbers, or how to deal with them?
Is it best to take the number off the car (on to a certificate) before I sell the number or just leave it on?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I sold my girlfriends cherished plate through regtransfers, it took about 4 months for them to sell it for us, but they got a good price - cost of plate + retention fee + a little bit of pocket money, would recommend to put the plate on retention first, makes paperwork easier.
Why on earth are they re-running that tv & radio ad, persuding us it's OK, to run into a child at 30mph?
Guess you know the one I mean .... childs voice...hit me at 40 & I'll probably die.. hit me at 30, maybe I'll live...
Oh that's all right then, I won't bother to avoid you, then.
I'm not trying to be sarcastic - it just annoys me every time it's on, as it's so missing the point.
Some clever, over paid advertising exec & government official, both feel it gives the correct message, though, obviously.
Rant over.

fair point, well made........:-)
My wife works in the finance industry. One of the forms of id she is allowed to accept for money-laundering and fraud regulations (two are required) is a drivers license.
This week she received an interesting letter from the DVLA. In the carefully worded letter they warn that 7.8 Million of their license records are considered to be inaccurate in one way or another.
That is just driver licenses - I wonder how accurate the vehicle registration and road tax databases are?

>I am questioning your labelling the dvla as "not fit for purpose" based on 2nd hand information from your wife.
No you were not. Read your own posts again.
>"just reminding sloppy finance professionals.."
>"your wife seems so woefully unaware of the aml & jmlsc "guidance" on this matter.."
>"perhaps your wife's employer should be asking if they themselves or her are "fit for the purpose"
You were trying to pump your own ego by implying that my wife personally, (and other finance professionals), work to the same standards that you have seen in other organizations when all I had said was that she had received a letter from the DVLA admitting the inaccuracies in their records.
That was completely out of order and I called you on it.
>I am questioning your labelling the dvla as "not fit for purpose" based on 2nd hand information from your wife.
So you attack my wife based on 2nd hand information from me?
I suppose only hypocrites can have it both ways.
I agree that the finance industry has more than it's fair share of cowboys and it always will (that's where the money is). My wife comes home angry at least one night every week because she's had to deal with IFA's or other companies who are fleecing their clients (and there's very little she can do about it).
There are also IFA's who are genuinely doing their best for their clients. You get good and bad in every profession, deal with it.
>re your point (iv) -
>bring it on...
So that was your intent.
>now back to motoring - i.mo. the dvla do a far better job, nay, an excellent job, compared to
>many commercial financial institutions in the uk.
7.8 million erroneous records out of a total of 37 million (iirc) is "an excellent job"????

Let us know.
Hi All,
my engine warning light has come on and I have been told by a local garage that it is the pre cat lambda sensor and pos the post cat is iffy but that could be because of the pre cat problem.
Is it possible to clean the sensors or will I have to buy a new one, if so where is the best place to get one from.
I'm no mechanic but if this is easy to fit or clean I'm willing to give it a go, does anyone have any tips on where the sensor is on a 2001 seat Ibiza. picture will be a great help.
Thanks

a proper one will be about £100 dont fit a universal one they are no good
follow the exhaust down from the engine till you find a carbuncle with 4 wires coming out
this is your first lambda
a 22mm open ended spanner with a ring on the end will undo it if you are lucky
if you are unlucky the thread welded into the exhaust will pull out or the probe will shear
if you dont have tackle weigh the pros and cons

Cheers - many thanks
