Hi - I need to replace the stop solenoid as it's leaking. Had a look earlier and seems to be very little room to get a spanner on it. I tried a socket but there's a bracket in the way and also the injector pipes preventing access.
Has anyone done this job - I wonder if a box spanner might work but looks like may still need to remove 2 injector pipes.
Also can you confirm if its 22 or 23mm
Thanks. Read more
As of today my very practical 2006 old shape Mitsubishi L200 has been written off. No I did't do it - I lent to a friend whose van was out of action. Seems he treated it like his Berlingo with the aforementioned result. I need to replace it and I am anxious to make the right choice. Do all pick ups have the old leaf back springs? Budget not most important but driveability is. Any ideas? Read more
I have bought a mk4 golf gt tdi 150 only a week and a half ago- Had it detailed today, but on closer inspection most of the car has been resprayed, and the important bit is under the carpet where the spare wheel is in the boot, there is black kind of foamy stuff in the metal (not far from the spare wheel) and it looks suspiciously like some welding has been done at some point.
What is the backroomers opinion? many thanks.

...... I have spent 9.5k
on a scrap heap myself.
Accident repairs rarely make a car a "scrap heap". A very high proportion* of used cars have had some sort of accident repair. Provided the repair has been carried out to a satisfactory standard the used car trade treats such cars (for both buying and selling purposes) just as it would a never-damaged car.
* No doubt HJ can give you the percentage. Why not email him?

The test report gives a very good impression for an SUV. If the company can install 'clean' engines will Ken L leave them be ? Read more
Friend of mine has just had one of these installed:
www.equipmentsupplies.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?i...6
Looked at it today. Beautiful piece of kit, he can do an MoT in 25 minutes. Read more
But don't VOSA, with the computerised system, specify that each
MOT should take one hour on average?
Hmmmmm.... reading the specs for the ATL it's a windows based program, so it will need at least 2 reboots and a reinstall every day!!
Hi,
Have found a great deal with www.buyacar.co.uk for a new Corsa which no one can get any where near.
Have ordered it and had confirmation but notice they don't release the V5 document for 28 days as quoted below.
is this OK do you think since I'll have a receipt?
has anyone any experience of this company?
Cheers,
Steve.
"Also, under the discount terms through which we will purchase your new car, the V5 Registration Certificate will be retained for a period of 26 weeks. The reason for this is simply that the manufacturer does not want these heavily discounted cars being sold to businesses that will look to resell them immediately and thus undermine their dealer network. Retaining the log book for 26 weeks is their way of ensuring that the cars are only sold to end users. In the mean time you will have the bill of sale from Buyacar which is your proof of purchase and your V5 will be automatically forwarded on to you. I would like to stress that this purely an administrative process and will not affect your enjoyment of your new car in any way. "

Quinny i think you've probably hit the nail on the head here...
Reading through the lines on the sales form they've sent me they're basically stopping me selling the car on for 6 months due to some agreement with the manufacturers.
Personally I have absolutely no problem with this as long as I'm listed as the legal owner somewhere.
They do say I will be the 2nd owner on the V5 but not when. Do garages get sent V5's rather than direct to my address or will they have to hold off putting my name on it to stop me getting a copy?
i presume my receipt will pretty much suffice for this since although I'm a little confused that earlier it was mentioned that a V5 was not evidence of legal ownership, so I'm not sure what is really and how I'll show up as such without this document?
As you say if I didn't want to save money then I'd go to the main dealer which in this case were still £1600 more expensive even after giving me 8% discount. They tried to convince me to stick with them by saying i might not get first choice of courtesy car should I ever need one compared to one of their customers!! How lame is that?
At the end of day I'm out to make a saving and £1600 is a big saving against future depreciation etc....
My 52 transit 90T350 diesel 55000 miles from new has had three flywheels and two clutch master cylinders in the last 12500 miles, any comments welcome especially from people with same problem. Thanks

Thanks mate, the flywheel problem relates to the new model 2000 onwards, will check out the site.
After having trouble with the engine hunting the fault was diagnosed as a faulty mass air flow sensor, which was replaced, now the engine keeps racing until it has warmed up. The car will travel at 30mph with no acceleration used at all.
The mechanic and my local garage can't find what the problem is.
Anyone got any idea what the problem could be?

Sorry,
Missed the point regarding leaf springs (oh for an edit button). The only pick-up I know that does not have leafsprings at the back is the Land Rover Defender pick-up.
They are very expensive but will no doubt run forever.
