"Owners of 4x4s are likely to bear the brunt of changes in the way car insurance is calculated.
Drivers of Range Rovers, BMW X5s and Toyota Land Cruisers and other socalled Chelsea Tractors are likely to have to pay hundreds of pounds more for comprehensive insurance under a new risk assessment scheme to be announced.
The changes are also likely to hit drivers of sporty diesels and even some mid-range hatchbacks...

BMW 320d M Sport goes from 14 to 26 so a relative fall, my descent into debt may be continuing
Hi
My old 214 is sat in my damp garage at the moment. Partner has replaced it with a MINI and its not likely to move any time soon. Its a 1997 P reg with 119,800 miles on the clock. Its been sat since xmas and now the battery is flat and the interior is starting to go mouldy (steering wheel, seat belts, boot etc..).
Shall I sell, or how can I look after it until I may need it again. Fingers crossed I wil have a job some distance away and the plan was to use the 214 for a few days a week (400 miles) to save my current daily car from any more deprecication (until my 6months are up and start recieving car allowance)
If its left in the garage what can i do to stop it going rotton inside and out and what tips to keep it ok until I use it again??
Cheers in advance

At least get it outside so the wind and sun can dry things out a bit.
It needs starting ASAP and running until its fully warmed up.
But from what you describe, its (IMHO) better to get it running and sell it while you can,

I've now replaced my main bulbs 3 times on my 02 TDCi Focus - all the replacement ones were from one source. Are there better quality makes ? These were all no make jobs - China ? Always happens when starting the engine up ... any good places to buy online ? And is it possible to fit brighter bulbs .... Read more

You'll see, I had to resort to using SWMBO's make-up mirror. Mind you, the skinned knuckles have healed now ;-)
I wondered about taking the battery out, but didn't because I thought it messed up all sorts of electrical devices. Is it possible to remove the battery without causing too many problems?
In case you missed it and I must say I did; as from *** 27th FEBRUARY*** the use of a mobile phone whilst driving has moved into the endorsable and £60 Fixed Penalty catagory. Includes the supervisor of a provisional licence holder using the phone (which it always did).
Any cases that reach court could involve discretionary disqualification and a maximum fine of £1,000 - or £2,500 in the case of the driver of a bus, coach or goods vehicle.

Well from my observations of being on the road last week I would strongly suggest that smoking needs to be banned. I stopped at Temporary Traffic Lights on the A48 near Chepstow whilst there I surveyed my surroundings the gutter near the lights was a carpet of fag ends. Horrible polluting habit - What is wrong with these people ?
does the alternator cooling fan on the pully end suck air in or blow air out of the alternator cause im worried about oil leeks getting into the alternator, ive just had one go after i week of fitting (from scrapyard) cause my original one packed up recently, im now on my third in two weeks from scrappy again but seems ok the last one sounded like the bearings had gone with all the noise coming from under the bonnet

As you may know, I have taken the seats and trim out of my car.
Assuming that I refit the passenger seat and reset the airbag light, will this be MoT worthy? Or does trim need to be present? I certainly hope not. Read more

Sat in a car park waiting for the family I watched the following:
Yesterday, late afternoon in Abergavenny, there was an elderly chap standing with his car - rear end removed - while parked in a side road near the loading entrance to a food store. Two chaps were talking to him and on a mobile, presumably to the police. Shortly afterwards two police cars roared up, lights flashing, and boxed in a large lorry belonging to a well-known freezer food store and took the driver over to the damaged car.
Lots of negative talk about the police, hemmed in by the Government, but I thought this was a brilliant speedy reaction. Read more
