Also, try a Rover dealer if you are near one (despite what your garage says)
I run a 114 and have no problems with spares.

Some bad news this morning - or is it? I have used Millers Diesel Plus in my 307 110bhp Hdi from new in June 2005 - not every tankful but quite a lot. A letter in HJ's column this morning says that there are 2 types of diesel plus, one for EU3 engines and one for EU4 ie mine and I have used the wrong one for the whole time! I shall contact Millers on Monday but in the meantime any thoughts, please? I am particularly concerned about damage to or loss of efficiency of the particle filter.

A PSA TU timing belt is about the easiest one you can do, on the same level as a Ford CVH timing belt.
Should take about 2 hours if its your first one, with practice you can change them in 45 minutes they are that easy.
A millionaire company director who lied to police to evade 36 speeding tickets has been jailed for 22 months and banned from driving for three years.
Mandeep Singh Kohli, 29, gave officers the names of people living abroad when cars registered to his family firm were pictured by speed cameras.
He had pleaded guilty earlier at Coventry Crown Court to perverting the course of justice.
The court heard the deception had enabled him to escape a driving ban.

Have a fiesta 1.4 TDCI for past year and a half, its 2002 zetec model and bought it from a main dealer with warranty. After 5 months there was trouble starting from cold, unstable idling and acceleration problems, after 6 weeks with dealer they replaced 4 injectors (JAN06) and records had shown these had been replaced previously. Roll on October 2006, same problems reoccuring, brought to dealer again in november and this time 3 injectors replaced FOC, but no further investigation or interest in possible underlying problem. Car running fine again but expecting a reoccurance and getting stung for new injectors at some stage, would like to keep the car, but have a lack of confidence. Any suggestions as to the underlying problem? I think 2002 was the first of the TDCI fiestas so maybe a design fault or ECU issue?
January 07 oil light comes on and topped it up with 4L of oil, End Feb 07, and 1500 miles later oil light on again and 2.5 L added, (all i had in the garage) anyone have any ideas on this?

Seeing my old 'Ex Met Police Vectra V6' thread being resurrected got me thinking;
I'm not in the market for one, but I'm seeing more and more of the Metropolitan Police BMW 530d cars going through Ebay and on Auto Trader for what seems like good money. Models as new as 04 plates going for around £8000 with 90k on the clock. They're all semi auto (or whatever BMW call it) and are all uprated from 193bhp to 225bhp from factory. Surely one of these would be a good buy, certainly plenty more life left in one than a Vectra of the same vintage. Does anyone have first hand experience of one of these Met Beemers or know what price they're going through auction at? Read more
the police 530d's that i've driven were quite good, but didn't seem to have much top end ( i think they were noticeably inhibited by the roof bars, fitted as a roof rack type device).......but there were some annoying traits
1, seat cannot be properly adjusted manually without having to get out of the car and pull at it....really, really
annoying if there is more than one driver using it.
2, wipers set up for LHD, left a noticeable patch on the windscreen that if you're tall or have the seat high up,
catches your eye.
3, the police usage kept blowing off turbo hoses
The interior trim will be knackered and really basic. There won't be a sunroof. The wiring system will be
'interesting' because of all the extras that will have been wired in such as alternate flashing headlamps, rear reds (fog lights) and the blue lamps on the roof bars. This extra wiring will not necessarily be to a good standard.
Knowing what they go through i.e. through fields, parks, down steps, across pavements and having the life squeezed out of them on most days, i wouldn't go near one with a barge pole.
I am looking at changing my clutch and flywheel as sometimes it slips when i accelerate at 2000rpm only intermittenly though and not all the time i have done clutches and gearboxes a=on older non hydraulic clutch cars but am wondering how long a job and how difficult it would be. Also valeo do a clutch and flywheel conversion kit so as to get rid of Dual Mass Flywheel and have a standard one anybody know what these are like Read more

Hi All
For some time now the heater blower in my '02 C5 2.0 HDi has stuck on full blow, the auto tries to turn it down according to the little fan symbol on the screen ut with no effect - using manual override also has no effect - to add to the problem 9 days out of 10 the heater also will only blow hot (not too bad in the winter but spring is on it's way !) just occasionally the temperature controlls will turn it down a touch if you set them on 16'C at the start of the journey - I don't fancy giving my local dealer a zillion pounds to fix it (yes I know I'm tight !) - so any ideas ?????
cheers
Cookey

The problem with the heater blower circuit is a faulty fan speed electronic regulator. The part is not expensive ,about £45.It is situated in the heater box, drivers side low down by your left foot.As for the temp problem I think it may be a good idea to get a/c system checked.hth

Sorry, meant BMW UK ------ no wonder they didn't know!!!!
