Was driving to the office this morning, past the local school. its a 30 and i dont speed through here - the boys in blue like to set up a camera just after.
Obviously just dropped the kids off, a old toyota people carrier pulls out right in front of me, dangerously in my opinion, and he/she doenst make much of an effort to get up to speed, causing me to brake , . I flashed to indicate my displeasure.
Then, they applied the brakes and pointed to the 30 sign! I was astounded that they do something wrong and then make out im speeding. Honestly. They then stopped and let everyone out. Just to make a point.
Must be nice to have so much time on your hands.
And to make it clear, i am 100% sure i was not speeding. Read more

He won't be doing it again then but there are two innocent parties who were lucky to esacpe with their lives. Time for a rant about cameras v patrol cars? What's the point? Just assume everyone else is an idiot and might do anything.

Serached to see if this topic has been raised before and found no hits.
Recently the wife has occasionally been getting an audible alarm from her 307 when travelling at very slow speeds/revs. Occurs when slowing to manoeuvre at junctions or to park etc. I haven't heard the alarm but I imagine it is similar to a seat belt warning or reversing type alarm.
It has now been to see the Peugeot doctor on several occasions but nothing appears to be showing up on their diagnostic computer. Obviously an intermittent fault that has also not occurred when I have been in the vehicle driving or as a passenger.
Just wondered if anyone has experienced similar - any thoughts appreciated and I will update if Peugeot find out anything as they are supposedly trawling other dealerships to see if anyone has any ideas as they appear to have ran out in Andover!!
Many thanks in advance. Read more
When its beeping are the any warning messages popping up on the display at the same time?
For several years now on the M4 between Swindon and Bristol there have been roadworks of one form or another does anyone have any idea when these works will cease?
Currently they are re-installing cones in areas only recently worked on and we will be back to 50mph over four miles for another three months. Is this a case of left hand and right hand working in opposition or is there a plan do you suppose?
Enlightenment might soothe the frustration. Read more

During a recent sojourn in Cuba, I passed by a van in the centre lane of a three lane carriageway near the harbour in Havanna.
The van had not only stopped but the occupants were carrying out some sort of repair which had involved removing the front driveshaft as well as the wheel, goodness knows how long they had been there and how long the job was going to take. As one might expect no one, apart from myself, was taking any notice at all; putting Dulwich Estate's ticket for a 10 second stop in some sort of perspective.
.....ermm, come to think of it, didn't Ken recently visit Cuba on a fact-finding jolly.....

About a week ago, on a fairly busy local road, saw a person riding a unicyle! in all the traffic.
It was not a jokey bike of the circus type, but had a nomal type narrow racing wheel, but just the one.
He was kitted out in full skin tight colourful lycra and ventilated crash helmet and was pressing on at a respectable speed.
I was so surprised it was only afterwards that I wondered how he was pedalling and also how did he stop.
Perhaps I should get out more.
Hi every-one. Well my little daewoo matiz is playing up. on tuesday night on my way home it started losing power, and seemed like that i may have a faulty h.t. lead. I managed to get home and called the r.a.c. When the patrol man came out. it was perfect (typical hey) He said that the disi cap may be damp inside, so i removed it, and it was bone dry. I cleaned ot with a rag and fine emery paper and spayed a light coat of wd 40 on the inside of the cap. This morning for the first couple of miles the same fault appeared, and it has been fine since, Today i got a new dissi cap. rotor arm, and h.t. leads including the one from the coil. The suppier sold me the wrong cap and rotor arm so i have only replaced the h.t. leads at this time, and the one from the coil. If the fault re-appears has any-one any suggestions as to what it may be. The engine management light is fine i e comes on for a couple of secs at start up. then goes out. Thanks for any help/ advice. Cheers, Graham.

Well, I hardly use it ... but it's just cost me £40 for forgetting to retax it. It was MoT'd and reinsured in the summer, used once in September, then it sat in the garage for the last 4 months. Unfortunately when the rfl notice arrived for the end of October, I didn't nip straight down to the post office because the previous time I did that I was told that the new discs hadn't arrived - I was too quick off the mark. So this time, I put it to one side for a week ... then forgot it. Grrrrr. There are plenty of folks driving about without tax, insurance, MoT etc - but I get done over for leaving my bike in the garage. It's so frustrating!!!
I liked the idea of having my Suzuki GS500 for the occasional trip and in case the car broke down but I'm afraid it's going to have to go. It'll appear in the classifieds. Read more
Sell the bike if you want to. Having paid the £40 wouldn't it be simpler to write a reminder on a calendar, in a diary or use Outlook? Do you have a mobile phone? Many have a reminder function. I can't help thinking you are giving in too easily.

my sisters does this, i haven't had a chance to look at it properly as she's always busy but temporarily i told her to put a towel across the tray in the boot when it's damp and this seems to solve it so i suspect it's damp in the ht system. but as said id look at all of the vacuum system and ht system in detail

My son recently had the front brake pads and discs replaced at a fast fit operation as the pads were on their way out.
Now the new front offside pads keep binding sporadically after the car has been driven a couple of miles as shown by the wheel heating up and a burning smell.
Once cold I don't think there is any problem as the car can be easily rocked back and forward in neutral.
He took the car back and the mechanic had a good look and confirmed the pads were binding but couldn't find a problem with the callipers or pistons so said he'd they couldn't do anything else and he'd have to book the car into a garage.
The cars been booked into an independent for next week but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what the cause could be?
I thought about the master cylinder but if that was the case surely it would cause both sides to bind and the problem would occur all the time and not just intermittently?
Any advice gratefully received
As it is a Mk 1 it doesn't have ABS

Thanks for all the advice.
My son took the car into the garage round the corner and they appear to have fixed the problem by replacing the front brake pipes
Hi,
My insurance is due shortly and as we are expecting to spend a reasonable amount of time in France this year (about 5 trips of 7-10days or £100 worth at the rate my current insurer charges for foreugn cover) I am interested in which companies provide full european cover - not just green card 3pft stuff - at reasonable rates or included in their standard policy.
I am not old enough to be of interest to SAGA.
I know this has been covered before, but these things do change so I am interested in recent / current experience.
thanks Read more
With a trip to Belgium at the end of this month and another to Czech Republic from May to July, some weeks ago I called my Broker (Adrian Flux) to notify that our V70 would be abroad on these dates. In return, a letter in lieu of Green Card arrived that simply asked me to take my policy with me when I travel.
Prompted by this thread however, I just called Adrian Flux back to check level of cover. Response was that I can drive anywhere in the EU without informing them and automatically receive third party cover, but if I call them first (as I had done) then I get full policy cover.
The charge for this? Nothing, to my surprise, especially as my policy is for a declared modified car with very considerable power increase.
For the record my insurer is Norwich Union.

Definitely sounds like the drainhole under the battery is blocked. My A4 had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago, in my case, the cover to the pollen filter was cracked allowing water to seep in. Just about have the sound proofing dried out at this stage.
