I have just acquired a mint e36 BMW 320i with an old analogue phone in it. I also have a Cark system for my nokia. As there is an aerial and microphone alraedy fitted I was wondering is it possible to disconnect the old phone and fit the Cark cradle etc. Or am I mad? Read more
Hi just failed MOT on severe brake judder, has been happening at speeds over 40mph for a few weeks, (checked that cylinders not leaking) told to replace discs and pads does this sound right?? Read more
if the mot man told you this then yes as you can see warped discs on the vu's as you do a brake test.
same advise if he had said you had warped drums
they were on offer at eurocar parts not long back for about £20 plus vat for discs and pads might be worth checking them out
At least this will turn heads when I'm next stuck in someones field....

The link to that ebay listing seems to be doing the rounds on all of the internet forums at the minute.
The remote operation of SWMBO Mazda 323F ( 2001) door locks has ceased.
A new keyfob battery does not help. Anything else I can try?

Nope. Had a look through and says take it to the dealer. I had the battery changed as it had ceased to function.
SWMBO says it locked OK in the evening but would not open the next day.

The new Primacy HP is available at Costco with a 20% discount and I think I will give it a go. The curent Michelins have completed 38k and are all still legal however after the 2mm mark noticeably less effecient so time for a change. Thanks for all you comments
I finally bit the bullet after getting a good deal through work, and bought 4 new Hankook K406s (185/65H14) at £28 a corner fitted (saved £18 a corner off the prices of a well-known internet-based tyre company). All I know about Hankooks is they're Korean, and they're OE on Hyundai and Kia cars.
My Almera's handling and ride has improved dramatically compared to the rubbish that was previously fitted (Avons). Anyone had any experience (good or bad) of Hankooks? Would be interested to hear what the general opinion is. Read more
I have got Hankook K105 Ventus Prime tyres fitted on the front and I can't fault them; grip in dry and wet is as good if not better than the Dunlop SP Sport 9000's I had on before. The tread pattern is very similar to Michelin Pilot Primacy (hence the name), but they only cost me £62 each fitted, in 205/50/16 size, so almost half the price of Michelins.
The bloke who fitted them said they have OE approval for the Golf GTi for 2007, in his opinion they were "the best kept secret in tyres", and he expected prices to rise next year as they got more popular.
The reason I chose them was I had uneven tyre wear problems on my Saab (known issue) with 87 load rating tyres. The Hankooks are one of very few tyres in my size available in 91 load rating, and they have cured the problem as far as I can see. Thought I was taking a gamble on quality when I had them fitted, but I will definitely buy them again for my current car.
Rich.
How do i tell when a clutch is worn....the peddle needs to be quite high befor the clutch engages, but htere seems to be no slip when moving away with the parking brake on...(during testing!!)
What else can i do to test?

Find a nice flat bit of road, get up to about 25 - 30 mph & stick it in 5th gear.
Floor the throttle, does the car build up speed very slowly or does the clutch start slipping.

Hope you can help me,
I would like to change the factory original radio deck in our Primera 2001 as it is dying, we found a nice Eltax head unit with SD card reader in ebuyer and a suitable facia in ebay.
My question is : will the steering wheel mounted controls can be connected to a 3rd party head unit?
Thanks Read more
Only normally if A: It is compatible with the use of the manufacturers standard remote control buttons and
B: You buy the appropriate lead that will fit in the head unit and into the wiring loom so that the
remote controls can function.
My Mondeo has always done this a little bit if you drive half a mile and then stop at some lights the tickover pulses and a kind of thudding sound comes from the exhaust recycling system. However, over the past couple of months it has started doing this when the engine is warm and I am in a traffic block. It starts happening only having spent 10mins or so in traffic. Is this some kind of valve not opening? Not sure, but any suggestions would be very welcome!

What about disconnecting the EGR valve and plugging the hoses? Should this make a difference?
You could possibly use the aerial, microphone and speaker but I think you may find the connections are different ,especially the co-ax antenna lead.Best to ditch the old system and fit Nokia Cark system.
