Seat Ibiza X reg - mfd failing - smokie
the multifunction display is intermittently failing on my daughter's X reg Ibiza. She's booked it in a Seat dealer, but I've warned her that a replacement is likely to be expensive, and labour won't be cheap either.

Does anyone know 1) how easily accessible it is this in the car 2) a soruce of cheap replacements (breakers presumably) 3) if there is likely to be a fault that I, a rank amateur, could diagnose/fix?

Model? engine size? Whats failing? No display at all, erratic

I'd try and find the earth for the dash board, VW usually earth the dash on or near too the camcover

Ibiza 1.4. Display is fine sometimes, breaks up & disappears at others - makes radio tuning, temp setting difficult.

If you're talking about the radio / heater I think you'll find this is a very common failure. My brothers Cool S Cordoba Vario had a radio that turned itself on hours after parking it up, he got a brand new replacement off ebay for £40ish off a NOS seller ;O)

Oh Right!! Is the screen actually the radio?

I haven't even been out to take a look - will do so tomorrow!

It's a 1.4 Cool btw.
