hi my audi a4 refuses to start, ive narrowed it down to a lack of fuel supply, ive checked the fuses which are fine, and the relay which doesn't look the best but clicks and buzzes when the ignition is turned on, but i have measured the current at the connector on the in tank pump and it is only 1.3volts at most, would this indicate the relay is broke? i trried running 12volts straight to the pump but it did nothing, i had expected it to pump some fuel, is the pump also dead?
cheers

can somebody please tell me what the following warning light is trying to tell me.
1996 astra 1.6 auto. orange light to the right of handbrake warning light. it looks like a camcorder shape from the side with a bolt of lightning in the centre.
it has got me stumped and unfortunately haven't got a owners manual. Read more
I have the same fault. I just read the diagnosis instructions using the PaperClip method. Then I got to the end and realise that 1. I'm missing the footie and 2. It doesn't work on my car as it is 2002. What a bummer, guess I'll have to pay someone to tell me what the fault is. My son may not have shoes for a year or two.
Last weekend, I was driving through the West Midlands and stopped for a mid-afternoon coffee break at a motorway service station. I was sitting in the car reading the paper when an attractive young woman approached, brandishing her car keys.
The girl apologetically introduced herself and then delivered an obviously well-rehearsed patter about having run out of petrol and lost her purse, while all the time leaning into the car to ensure I couldn't fail to get an 'eyeful' via her very low-cut top. She then asked if I could spare 'a few quid' to 'help her out', while emphasising that she was 'not a beggar'.
I decided this was obviously a scam, and declined to give her money. She accepted this and proceeded to work her way around the car-park, approaching only the men and ingnoring the women, couples and families.
Has anyone else been approached by similar scammers? Is this a widespread activity? Read more
On reflection they may have been after my daughters cockerpoo dog which I was handing back. They are now worth £3500.
The missus has a 2000 VW POLO 1.0lt with a fuel gauge that sometimes shows the tank to be empty when its at least half full. It seems to be happening more often. Has anybody else seen this problem on the POLO?

good post 659FBE my good slap on dash will be of no use then :( but usually works for plenty of cars :)
53 reg Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 48k miles.
The engine starts but nothing happens when I press the throttle.
If the car has stood for 6 or 7 hours since it was last used the problem is very short lived perhaps 20 seconds.
However if it has only stood for a short period for instance after filling up with Diesel or having parked for 2 hours the engine starts but the throttle will not work for perhaps 5 or 10 mins. (the longest time was 15 mins. During this "delay" time the engine is ticking over but at lower revs and the engine warning light and the battery light stay on. As soon as they go out the engine revs pick up and the car can be driven. Once it is going it drives fine. No judders or jerks, no loss of power, no warning lights and it doesnt stall - it is as if nothing is wrong until I have parked and want to restart the engine again.
It has been in a ford dealership now for 2 weeks. They have changed the alternator, run the diagnostice tests - which showed no faults and have now told me that there is a low presure reading on one of the injectors and I will have to have to have the cylinder head removed in order to check if that is the problem and I may even need a new engin! Given that the car drives fine once it gets going I cant see how this can be a mechanical fault - any ideas. Read more

Thought I'd gone didn't you?
Could do with a little help. I've done C.V's in the past but only really to satisfy a requirement at school or College for a certain module and never really to apply for a proper job. (The last job I had was a simple part time one where they admitted they never even looked at the (basic) C.V. I had provided).
Since I left Uni a few weeks ago, I've been clearing all the work I've been doing for other people and now am completely free to set about the job hunt. I know in the past I've made threads and received an absolutely fantastic response from you lot which I really do appreciate but I could do with a little C.V. advice.
I'm fully capable of doing a C.V. I know all about the templates in Word and that malarkey but I want to do a good C.V. and I figured with the amount of people on here trying their hand at various professions, I could get some decent advice.
Any simple pointers or Do's and Don't's would be of incredible use to me. Like I said earlier, I've got an ordinary looking C.V. at the minute but it looks like exactly what I've done - used a template in Word.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated. (If you would like to email me, my address is in my profile).
Thanks in advance,
Adam

People have seen your own choice in car, and still accept your advice? ;)
Didn't realise until today that your filler cap is always on the same side as the petrol pump 'pipe' symbol on your dash display (if you have one).

it's a strange one top gear,
i turn it on sit down and watch it and enjoy it,
but it seems to be the same thing every week,
there must be a huge waiting list of public school boys eagerly e-mailing off their c.v's every week to the TG office in the hope of an interview.
it just comes across as three well of blokes amusing themselves with someone elses money. that said i did enjoy it the other day.
also have you noticed how the audience is full of chinless wonders. i would guarentte the visitor car park is full of bmw320's and model c vectra's. has anyone been to watch the show? what were your experiences ?

Silly. Pounding the anti-caravan thing into the ground. Funny in a way, but not worth what it must have cost.
I did like the final shot of the caravan skeleton being towed away.
Failed mot today on "handbrake imbalance"....
Seems to be a common problem......I am hoping it is only a dry mechanism and a bit of grease will fix it.
Any pointers of what i should look out for/tips?
Cheers.

Cheers Quincy , will also look into the door rusting problem
as I am still within the 6 year anti corrison warranty
limit!
12 years IIRC.
We have just had planning permission for a extension to our house, which will include a large double garage/workshop.
I'm toying with the idea of getting the builder to dig me a work pit and get a proper manufactured, fiberglass liner fitted,
Anybody any opinions for or and against also do i need permission for one?

Robin owners need to go on a hse course before getting in!
Presumably the fuse is OK? I know it’s a daft question but you never know. The fuel pump fuse for a 95 A4 with an ADR engine is number 28 in the dash side fuse box. The wire you are interested in is a green/yellow at the pump connector pin 1 and this runs through the car to the left front A pillar behind the kick panel trim to a blue 6 point connecter at position 3 and this point can get corroded due to the A4’s propensity for water leaks into the passenger’s side. From the connector it runs uninterrupted to the fuse box at fuse position 28. Check with a multimeter the continuity from point “a” at fuse 28 to the A pillar connector and if that is OK, to the fuel tank connector from the A pillar. If these prove to be OK and power is getting to fuse 28 from the relay then it is probably a faulty fuel pump.
