I've got a good idea what it may be, Audi A4 1.9 turbo diesel 2001, engine code AJM. Air filter and fuel filter changed, Catalytic converter changed, but still lack of power on acceleration. Can any one give me any idea what they think it might be? Read more
Hi anyone able to help on non starting problems? The car has been turning over slower when starting in the mornings, started ok today but when returning from work at lunchtime turned over once then was dead. Tried to jump start it but nothing, not even turning over and no click from the ignition (thought it might be the starter??) Bump started it to get me home (yes I know you're not supposed to with a diesel) on returning home, turned it off and tried to start it again and it did, first time. When I tried again earlier this evening, nothing??? It it just a new battery I need? I am with the RAC but don't want to waste a call out if it's only a battery I need.
Thanx guys in advance of replies.
Angie.

The Chap behind me who had damage Front & Rear employed a No Win No Fee agency/solicitor and I phoned them to tell them that I had had a settlement. The "No Win/No FeeLawyers" had made little progress but they had not institiuted court proceedings because of the up-front costs.
For my £17 I got a good solicitor from one of the best known legal practices in Scotland for £17.00. It was bargain.
hi all,
need some advice on a non fault accident .
my wife had an accident in my car to which the other party has admitted full liability .
but i have a big problem ,
my car has around £10k to £13k worth of damage and the insurance is going to repair it (at the authorised dealer).
vehicle is worth around £43k.
but due to it being a specialised car i don't really want it back ,if i wanted a damaged repaired car i would have purchased one in the first place .
also when i come to sell this car all parts ordered for it will be available for all to see(easy to find out it has had extensive repairs) and i will have to sell my car for a lot less than market value due to this .
am i in my rights to explain this to the other persons insurance and get them to pay me out for my car or replace it with like for like ?(i've only had it 3 weeks).
your advise will be greatly appreciated
regards
paul

thanks for your input but i would feel it only honest to answer questions if people asked and i would have to say that is has been damaged ,also if the buyer goes to the dealer and asks what work has ever been done on the car they will get a long list of bodypanels.
not good practice in my eyes .
think i have it sorted now so thank you for all your help .

HI my mot is due soon and I have a stone chip in the passanger headlamp, so i went to a spares place to ask about a new headlamp glass , and the chap said that if the chip didnt affect the beam pattern it woulndnt fail the mot is this right?
Thanks Read more
it will only fail if it affects the beam pattern, suggest you fill hole with clear silicone,if it then looks untidy get your mot and then source your headlight at your pleasure rather than as a distress purchase.
You dont say what make vehicle but many headlights are very cheap at the dealers these days (it is so the car keeps a lower insurance weighting if bumped and is therefore more attractive to punters)
Having just driven a friends 1.9TD back to back with my 2.0 HDi, I am disapointed that the performance on mine feels so flat, could it be a fueling issue?
I have a 2001 Citroen Dispatch HDi 94bhp, his is a 1997 1.9TD with 90bhp, yet it feels so much more spritley. Mine also seems to have a pinking sounding noise. mine will struggle after 90mph, his will cruise at indicated 100.
Are the Bosch systems on the HDi generally reliable? Can anyone suggest what I use as a signal for a boost gauge so I can at lease check boost pressure.
I must add that I have virtually no smoke, so have ruled out an air blockage.
Further to earlier threads, both 94 & 109bhp versions have an IC, unlike the 90bhp HDi Xantia/406.

I was thinking of changing to a hdi but after comparing the performance of the 1.9TD and 2.0 hdi 306, the 2.0 car felt noticeably more sluggish - although it does pull better below 2000 rpm and is more relaxed at motorway speeds.
I actually prefer the surge in power of the old xud engine plus it doesn't cost £1000 + to repair if the high presssure pump fails and I'm already getting 550 to 600 miles on a tank so don't think hdi could improve on that by enough to justify changing over.
Anyone know what insurance group a 1996 HONDA PRELUDE 2.3 LITRE AUTO would fit in?
This is not the VTEC model.
The car was originally a Japanese import vehicle and has many features that differ from the UK versions. They include. Four speed AUTO box with tiptronic shift, Air conditioning and climate control, wooden dashboard trim, racing style seats etc. (so the ad say's).

I have a 1.5dci version and it is situated on the right hand sise of the car (looking from the front) just behind the headlamp. It looks like a black bowl with four plastic hoses cominig out the top.
We run a Mini and an MX-5 which cover almost all of our motoring needs. Occasionally though it would be useful to have a 3rd car to use for taking garden waste to the tip, bringing home the occasional Ikea flat pack and taking bikes out occasionally. Annual mileage would be very low - only a few thousand.
I'm thinking it may be cheaper to just hire when needed but it would be more convenient to have something available all the time.
I would be interested in suggestions - obviously older and cheap but also a low insurance group and (if chosen carefully) wouldn't cost a fortune to maintain. Read more
Have seen a few on eBay for less than 2k,mostly early 3 door ones. The Royal Mail ssem to use them too, only difference is that they are all red..... and have twin rear doors.seen a few of these for £1500+ at dealers,so presumeably they are coming from auction.
Changed the oil in my Mondeo tddi yesterday.
Went looking for the filter and drew a blank!
Is it in that plastic canister thingamajig in front of the sump?
If so what sort of tool do i need to undo it?
Thanks in advance!

Yes it is the plastic canister in front of the sump, you need a 36mm socket IIRC. Saw one on Ebay a couple of weeks ago about £7.
i will have to find out how much it was and let you know
