Yellow pages?? Genius, now why didn't I think of that!??
Right, I'm going to get on to it right now. I think I'll find some cheap tyres that I've not heard of, so don't know if they're okay, from a garage I've never used so have no idea if they'll do a decent job. Brilliant!!
On the other hand, if anyone could recommend any competitors to Black Circles that they've had a good experience with, or experiences with small car tyres to be recommended or avoided, that would be great.

I've used mytyres.co.uk - verey happy with price and service received.

Several on-line tyre websites mentioned in the following thread.

Thanks DD, it was that thread that made me think of posting.
The experts on here seemed to have quite a few good experiences with BC, but quite a few had good times with local independants. I'm just concerned that while some will be excellent and reputable, some won't be. I've experienced both, and having just moved to the area, have no ideas about who to try.

Concur,
aquired Goodyear NCT 5 205/55v16 COST inc fitting was cheaper from my local than i could get from any webbased supplier.
|
Well im obviously missing something here even though i have fitted tyres
What difference can a different tyre place make to fitting a round black blowy up thing other than price and overtightening the wheel nuts?
|
Not fitting valves correctly, damaging the side wall of the tyre whilst fitting, making a mess of the alloys (if fitted), not doing wheel nuts up tight enough.........................................Need we go on
|
'accidentally' knocking the tracking out and offering to repair it for only £10, or getting the balancing wrong again, and again, and again. Those have been the two I've had in the last few years. I watched one place jack up a car on the sump, which promptly collapsed.

well you must have found a right sham place then, they dont use kitchen forks to fit tyres anymore, any proper place will have a fully automatic machine that even a child can use.
They would have to be pretty inept to bend a valve and not change it there and then as most only cost 20 pence if bought in bulk

Let's face it, if you can get a decent pair of tyres fitted at your house for £70, then what exactly are you hoping for that would be better than that?
|
Chance to support a decent local garage? Where there's a choice that's not too detrimental to me price wise, I'll always try and support the small, local place.

Are you new to Lichfield?
It's really all down to the guy who does the job anyway - I've had both extremes of service at Kwik-Fit, where I had to take my company car.
I took my own car to a highly recommended specialist some way away and the fitter scraped one of the alloys.

Yeah, we moved here last month, so still finding feet when it comes to local facilities. Like it so far though.

Out of all the online tyre websites mentioned in that thread, BC were the most expensive when I searched for tyres recently. Mytyres were the cheapest, and they also have a search facility telling you of garages in your area and the prices they charge for fitting, etc.
