Hi,

Looking for opinion as to whether a minor but nonetheless irritating niggle should be resolved under warranty.

Problem is misting/fogging of right front indicator lense on a 330D.
It doesn't stop the indicator being seen(!)The moisture is trapped between the outer and inner "perspex" skins, so not feasible (as originally hoped) to dry it out myself and see if that would resolve it. There are no obvious/visible breaks where moisture would enter, but I guess the gap could be pretty darned small.

Question is, should this be resolved under warranty (car is 16 months old)?

Thanks. Read more

I had this problem last winter and they would not change the lense under warranty. In the summer I removed the bulbs and used a hairdryer on the whole light cluster and spent several hours drying it out. I went around the joins with clear bathroom sealant and this winter the light hasn't misted up at all.

Sat at my home office desk this morning and with double glazed windows closed, for some minutes I heard unbelievable female screaming and shouting from the house opposite. Fearing something dreadful, I looked out of the window to see front door open and sheepish ten year old boy come out followed a few seconds later by irate mother. Slamming the front door, she unlocked the car, they both climbed in, and she then slammed her car door too so hard that I winced. With no seat belt for either occupant, reverse gear crunched in on the third or fourth attempt, and no use of rear view mirror (she was looking at son throughout), she shot out backwards in to the street, missing the dropped section of kerb with one side of the car and riding up the kerb and on to the verge the other side. With high revs, clutch slip, and wheelspin in equal measure she then shot off up the road.

I was amazed that half an hour later she and the car both arrived back home intact, but perish the other commuters my normally meek and mild neighbour shared roadspace with! I have no idea what sparked off mother, but it will be interesting to see what happens when laddy gets home having walked from the school bus drop-off any time now! Read more

2 year old Phaeton V6 3.2ltr, under 20,000 mls advertised by VW main dealer at £19,000.

This is new Golf type money / new Ford Mondeo price?

What is the catch? - apart from fuel consumption? Read more

I would never buy a Phaeton, VW means peoples car

hmm..

Anyway, it's amazing when you discuss a reasonably obscure car you see a few about. Saw one today in dark blue and seen 2 or 3 parked up outside my local dealer too recently.

Between 15,000 and 50,000 I'd say.

How easy are these to replace? I have a clonk from the nearside when I go over a bump. Closer inspection reveals play in this joint, even when rocked by hand under load (To clarify, it's the one on the bottom of the great big casting that fixes to the suspension leg and holds the brake caliper.)I assume that I'll need a special spanner to undo this (looks like it needs one of those C shaped spanners). I'm new to Citroen's, this is my first one so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for that. I will change the LHM fluid, as I have the ideal opportunity because one of the metal pipes from the rear of the accumulator sphere to the hydraulic pump, sprung a leak last night. it had been rubbing against the sump and a pin prick hole appeared squirting fluid across the engine compartment. Just the sort of thing I need.

I see once again Vauxhall are offering their cars for a 3 day test drive. I took advantage of this last year to try the Astra Sports hatch and although I disliked the car, the actual procedure was relatively fuss-free with no hard pressure sales.

Might try out a new Zafira this time... Read more

Does anyone have a summary of the T&Cs?

BD, there is a summary on Vauxhall's website. Goto the 3 day test drive page and the T's & C's are on a clickable link right down the bottom of the page (in the centre)

When the next screen pops up, scroll half way down.

how do,

bit of a situation, we have 2 cars both of which will struggle sell private, jazz has bumper damage and my mondeo has the subframe bushes knocking so best to part ex as dealer won't pick up on the subframe bushes at least.

obviously as per title we want to just have one car, i have a standard loan for my mondeo and she has car finance on her jazz.
we want to basically get 1 car for the value of both of these cars on part ex (10k ish) (mine worth £4500 ish hers £5000 ish)

how the hell do we do this i assume dealers will do anything for a sale?

will they just give us money back to settle the 2 loans? Read more

gone a bit off topic, but i'm not talking about 2 part ex's for cars i own, i mean 2 part ex's with car finance outstanding on 1 and loan on the other

who will this be sorted out?

My 1998 Primera GT has developed an intermittent squealing noise. Audible from inside the car - louder from the outside. Doesn't happen at all on short runs, only after driving steadily for 30 mins. or so. Seems to be unconnected to road speed and engine revs. The noise goes away temporarily if I dab the brakes lightly.

Any ideas?

Thanks Read more

Just check that you hav'nt overfilled the brake fluid container. If you
have, when it gets warm, after a few miles,it will expand and if
the container is overfull the only place it can go (that
has 'give') is your brake cylinders, thus pushing on your brake pistons, thus
putting your brakes slightly on.

No that won't happen. There is a vent in the cap.

Sounds like the pads are just sticking slightly in the calipers. Happens on lots of cars. Just do a little heavy braking to see if it frees things off. Otherwise take the pads out and put a spot of copper grease on backings where they bear against the caliper.

Hi there,
Does anyone know what target price I should be getting quoted for a new Nissan Primstar/Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Trafic 1.9 DCI SWB with a low roof???
I determined not to be robbed when I bargain with the dealer and it would be helpful if I knew what sort of target price I should be aiming for!!!!!!
Many thanks in advance.

I think salesman struggle to deal with you when it's not
a face to face sale.

To be honest i actually prefered it when i was dealing over the phone and internet - i can't be doing with the usual retail sales patter, i'm too honest and down to earth to act all slimey like your typical sales guy.

If a customer asked me something i'd answer yes or no and if i could do the deal i would, if i thought customer was gettting a good deal elsewhere i'd hold my hands up and tell them to take it.
