Hi just bought a cheap zantia, car in good shape but has airbag warning light on.
Any clues as where to look, could it be like the old vectras with the wiring under the front seat.
The car is a 97 turbo diesel.

just wondering how people advertising cars on ebay for example are working out the mpg? for example 1 guy selling a 306 hdi claiming 70mpg+ which is over 900 miles a tank!!! Read more
OK .. but nor is the extra cash for the diesel, the extra cost new, the heavier engine effects on handling etc. Just not sure that for a small car, diesel makes sense against the best of the petrol engines..
I have bought a satnav unit with a suction mounting system and the device is not reliable....ie it kept falling off the screen despite careful application. An engineering mate of mine utilised the sprocket and mounted this on a baseplate and attached it to the dash....problem solved. Anyone else found the suction system unreliable? Read more
Good advice TVM. This also reduces the risk of any low life noticing the rings on your windscreen and breaking in looking for any toys (which of course won't be there, will they...?)
After accidentally driving over a pothole in the road, both the passenger and driver airbag warning lights came on. Having restarted the car a couple of times, now it is just the driver airbag warning light that is on.
Please could anyone tell me whether this can be reset, without having to go to a garage to do it?
Thanks,
Gill. Read more
Circulating just now are drafts of policies to reduce the number of people prosecuted currently "for a wide range of offences" that may in future be handled with a caution or other process.
The document contains amongst others Road Traffic Offences - will this lead to better / safer roads or the road to ruin?
Sorry but we have a policy on not allowing direct links to the Times Newspaper.
Having read the link the summary given above sums up the point for discussion well.

It's a very interesting and enlightening document. It seems that for all but the most serious offences a 'nabbed' first time offender can expect nothing more than chastisement.
Unless of course you throw a fag end on the floor or exceed the speed limit by a couple of mph. Then the fixed penalties apply.
Just got off the phone to me dad, guess what car he's just gone and bought himself?
Yep thats right a Mondeo TDCi Ghia Estate.

Check theres no clunking coming from the steering when you turn it at a standstill otherwise its a new rack, and check that all the gears go in properly especially 1st and 2nd otherwise it could mean gear linkage probs. Both are very common on Corsas/Combos.
The engines though in my experience are near enough unbreakable.

I do not want to kill off the 2 threads currently on the forum: 1) Will VAG go the same way as BL and 2) the Daily telegraph Special report, but having read the interesting input from both it struck me - does anyone think VAG are already going the same way as Mercedes Benz by reducing quality whilst remaining expensive, and will they suffer the same problems daimler Chrysler currently have.
I would be interested in your views (NB: I am not VAG bashing here - having owned 7 prebviously). Read more

I must, in fairness, point out that I've been informed that the new S-Class has made a very promising start in lifting M-B back up to the standards demanded of the company.
I've driven many Mercedes models, including the S-Class, and from the point of view of technological and styling design the S-Class in particular sets incredible standards.

Would a vw key work in the above if i got a new blade and had it reprogrammed? I need a new car for the leon but dont want to pay the £150 from a dealer. There seem to be a lot of vw keys on ebay and if it would work (they seem to be the same frequency) then it could save me a fortune.
Any help gratefully received Read more
It might have looked like an ordinary key but I would think that it actually had a transponder in it, which needs programming to the ecu.
Try looking up auto-locksmiths in your local yellow pages.
Hi,
Does anyone have experience of either the "Advanced" or "Premium" Bluetooth mobile phone options currently being offered by Ford on the Mondeo?
I'm particularly interested in how the dialing etc is done from the steering wheel.
The Advanced kit is standard fit on the Titanium X, but an option on everything else, while the Premium is offered as an option on everything.
Thanks ..............

When I enquired about the Bluetooth kits 2 dealers told me that quite frankly they were more trouble than they are worth as the handset compatibility is rather patchy.
I ended up going for a Nokia CK-7W kit and fitting it myself using an Autoleads adaptor to route the audio through the speakers and display Phone on the stereo. To make a call you just hold the button and say the voice tag for the number you want to dial. It works very well.

I know on Peugeots of this age it's the connectors under the front seat so chances are it could well be in the same place.
