2001 Seat Leon Car Key Question - dave1234
Would a vw key work in the above if i got a new blade and had it reprogrammed? I need a new car for the leon but dont want to pay the £150 from a dealer. There seem to be a lot of vw keys on ebay and if it would work (they seem to be the same frequency) then it could save me a fortune.

I had a 2000 Leon and it came with a remote key and a key plain and simple.

Why not get a key without the remote control?

You are still talking £100 from the dealer as far as i know. It doesnt need to be a remote key, aslong as it can be programmed correctly. Also anyone know anywhere apart from ebay to get the keys apart from the dealer as its proving to be quite difficult!

What I meant is the spare I had in 2000 was just a key. No remote, nothing to programme, just a piece of metal with a black plastic handle that you put in the keyhole and turned.

It might have looked like an ordinary key but I would think that it actually had a transponder in it, which needs programming to the ecu.

Try looking up auto-locksmiths in your local yellow pages.
