Hello there I'm having a little problem. Only had the car since tuesday.
The central locking on my 2000 mondeo 2ltr has stopped working.
There is a clicking sound near the steering column inside the car and also the little red light near the clock is on permantly, flickering occassionally.
I rung the dealer where I bought the car and they said I can take it back on tues after the bank holiday weekend and they'll have a look.
They got the remote locking working on Monday but now that doesn't work either.
Anyone have any idea what the problem/problems could be? Fuse perhaps?

Hi all, my wifes 1997 carina e recently failed it mot due to a loose front wheel bearing.
I checked wheel and there is very slight movement when rocked at the 6 oclock and 12 oclock positions.
Is replacement a difficult job or can i just try retighten the hub nut , which btw is very tight as it is.
Any advice on pitfalls, special tools etc greatly appreciated.

Hi
I test drove a lexus new IS250 diesel( manual) today The car has 1300 miles on the ODO.. The salesman told me that the car had only been driven in town I noted that the trip computer shows the average mpg as 24 since new and 23 since re fuel. This seems quite low for a diesel or will it improve as the car is run in. Lexus claim a much higher urban MPG Any experience or comments
thanks

Hi
A friend has a Vectra with a cold starting problem. It will start fine when the glowplugs are initiated (below 4°C), however it takes a lot of cranking before spluttering into life at anything above this, when the glowplugs aren't activated by the ECU. Is there any way to increase the temperature at which the glowplugs don't turn on?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mate,
My Vectra 98 2.0 DTI with 180 k on the clock starts with or without glow plugs at any temp no problems at all, turns over 3 times at the most.
I keep telling the wife to wait for the yellow light to go out, she forgets and starts it straight away.
I would do as the others say and fit the new spill pipes, i have even read on other posts of owners fitting a non return valve in the fuel line.
The air bag light is stuck on.
Have been told it is the seat belt tensioner.
How can I fix this and is there a removable fuse that removes the annoying warning light? Read more
Thanks all.
pressing the door switch did nothing.
Fiddling about with the wiring under the seat fixed it.
I dont know which wire - I just pushed and twisted
all the wires that I could reach.
Be careful! The wire at the bottom of the seat on the QX is for the side airbags (these are in the sides of the seats) - so take care! (should disconnect battery and wait 10 minutes before touching them). There is a 'known problem' on the QX in that the loom for the side airbags is a bit too short and the connector can come apart.
If you press the door switch in the correct sequence it will bring up the fault codes (this also works on P144 Primera, which seems to have the same airbag system as the QX).
I have had a 1990 Mercedes 190E 2.0L (111k miles) from new. It has been totally reliable, except for one problem, an intermittent misfire, which it's had off and on for the past two years.
Neither the main MB agent nor my local garage have been able to fix it, mainly because it works perfectly when they have it!
The misfire only occurs when the engine is under load, accelerating up a hill, in any gear, when the revs exceed 2000RPM. The misfire is so severe I feel sure it involves at least 2 or more cylinders. At all other times it runs perfectly. (even when in a period of misfire, I can rev it to 6000RPM in neutral without problem, but as soon as it's back under load, it misfires again - it's the loading causing the problem)
The garages have replaced the distributor cap and rotor arm, leads and plugs over the period, all to no avail. The car will run perfectly for 2000 or 3000 miles, then suddenly develop the misfire, especially pulling away from a junction. It lasts any where from 100yd to 30 miles, then disappears and runs fine again, until the next time.
The fault is reducing my confidence in what is part of our family and my daily workhorse. (it does a 60 mile round trip to work most days). It has TSZ ingition and uses no oil between services.
I'd be very grateful for any views you might have either as to the possible cause of the problem or where I should take it to get it diagnosed properly.

Have just seen a campervan/motorhome, circa 1989, with no identification as to manufacturer or builder. The only marking on it is the mame BORA 258 below the windscreen.
Anyone any ideas please? Thank you. Read more
Has anyone got any views on these tyres - can get 2 fitted for about £140 which seems reasonable. Anyone got them or heard any reports on them!
Cheers

Got em fitted today, so will have to see how they perform.
£140 for the pair, so not too bad!
The size was 205/55/16 and got a V rating!
Come the weekend some are content with the paper or footie, whilst others like me go for a blast on their sports bikes (loose motoring connection). There are however those who restore 27 litres of Rolls Royce Merlin and the odd 36.7 litre Griffon, mount them in tethered trailers and wind them up!

Playing golf last year in the run-up to Battle of Britain Week, I had a very similar experience as the same trio flew straight down the 12th at my hilltop club, low enough for my partner and me to wave, and receive a waggle of the wingtips from all three
in acknowledgement.
Fantastic sound indeed, and we had hardly recovered from the thrill when the "Crimson Crabs" *** followed exactly the same line two minutes later!
Jack
*** "Crimson Crabs" is Fleet Air Arm speak for the Red Arrows in view of both the colour of the aircraft and the aircrew's flying suits, further to PU's reference to the RAF as CrabAir, which has itself a very long involved (and rude!)origin ....

Hi,
Not much help I'm afraid but I think that light means it's not recognised the key and there's an error in the transferring of the codes. (From the key to the car)
Definitely something key/immobiliser related. Sorry I can't help any more.
Good luck
