Car? What car? I can't see any car!!

aahbarnes

We are touring down to St tropez in 2 weeks time and will be returning to the UK via Calais.

There will be space in the car (new Scenic) on our return, so we will be doing some shopping. I will be getting oil, as from experience it is much cheaper, but I am wondering what other people have bought in the past?

Are tyres any cheaper? I'm also into DIY, so will be looking at kitchen/bathroom fittings etc.

Many Thanks Read more

Didn't an earlier post mention Mobil 1 was a different Mobil 1, in France, to that in the UK??

& the soap powder is cheap enough for lorry drivers we know to prefer bringing it back, than fags n booze!!

Hi all,

The gf will be offloading her 318Ci soon (hopefully), and is looking for a classy coupe that isn't a BMW or Merc. Probaby spend about £5k. So something a little bit sporty (but not too high an insurance group), classy and reliable. Has to be 2-door (she hates 4 doors, doesn't feel safe- not logical but there it is). My mind instantly said: Volvo C70, Honda Prelude, Toyota Celica, Honda Accord Coupe, Saab 900 coupe. Thoughts?

Cheers,

Alex.

...but I can't see them coming in under budget for a new one, I meant to say. I can actually see them, or at least if I can't I haven't bumped into any yet.

There have been other attempts to basically copy ebay eg QXL.com but none have come close to emulating it; unless either something totally new and radical is launched or something happens to ebay i can't see anything else getting close to it.

Hi there,

Firstly thanks to all who replied to my
topic (seized gearbox)

I was wondering if anyone had any tips to tighten the gearshift
on a early Fiat Ducato gearbox? I think the linkage is worn due to age, but I do have a very tight budget.

Thanks.

Mike.

Im thinking of buying a 1994 Fiat Uno diesel with 130,000 miles. Its cheap and straight but are they any good? Read more

Believe it or not,the Fiat Uno is still being built new in South America, and Fiat have recently given it a facelift.
Also built in parts of eastern Europe.
I ran a petrol one for many years with no significant problems.
It`s life was ended suddenly when a joyrider decided to re-shape the front end with a telephone post.

Visited a friend tonight and he's aquired a lovely 1/18 scale model of the concept cat the Ford GT90 which has exqisite detailing, including the tyre tread that reads GT90!

..but alas I asked him a number of questions about this car and concept cars in general which he couldn't answer.

1..where is it now?

2..why spend vast amounts of cash? (a hideous waste of money)

3..where do other makers concept cars go?

4..why do they never go into production?

5..why bother?

Statistical outlier

Evening all,

I need to hire a box van to get all my stuff up to the Midlands from Bromley. Anyone got any recommendations for where to hire in the SE London area? Anyone to avoid (prob best that last one by email as it might be classed as naming and shaming).

Cheers,

Gord. Read more

Statistical outlier

Well, it's done, and 120 litres of diesel later all my stuff is moved and I'm sitting in an empty flat in Bromley. The only thing here is a sleeping bag, thermarest, and a desk and computer (need broadband, so can't move completely until it's plumbed in up north).

7.5 tonne was fine as anticipated, would do 70 mph on the motorway if you gave it time to get up to speed. The penalty was 15 mpg, but it was a 16 hour day anyway, so was not willing to go slower. Cheers to all for the pointers, it's appreciated.

Have just rebuilt engine on our 323 diesel and cannot figure out where some of the vacuum pipes go. Anyone with a 52 plate fancy photographing their engine and emailing the pictures to me? Main dealers have been less than helpful and have been unable to get any after market manuals.

Thanks
