Hi, I have a 04 156 1.9 Diesel 16V that is hard to start and has no power below 3k rpm. Then, full power after that all the way to the red line @4.5k rpm It's been like this for a couple of weeks now and still can't get the dealer let me know what might be wrong. It was on the diag system at the dealer in Limerick (cost 220 euro) but that just showed a problem with the pressure sensor which I replaced last week (cost 100 euro) and now the Motor Control System Failure - Go To Dealer disappeared from the computer and dash. The light on the dash may be gone but the performance at low revs is getting worse. It can take 5 - 10 mins to get the revs up to take off in the mornings. I have cleaned out the air intake as much as possible (it was filthy), changed the oil&filter, air filter and fuel filter (twice). I've been told the Air flow meter is fine and what it needs is and ECU upgrade. Anyone got any idea's? It's driving me crasy at this stage

Cheers Bazzabear, I've done that all right. Not sure what the problem is yet but I have a few things to try now anyway.

I have a bit of a dilema. I need a second vehicle and am toying with the idea of a smallish van. I would use it for basic transport and also to shift small amounts of rubble / odds and ends from time to time. It would need to be no higher than about 1930 to fit in my garage door and a LWB wouldn't go amiss. What model do you reckon? Are there any road tax / insurance problems with a private guy having a van ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll go down the estate route. Didn't think the insurance would be that sort of problem. Keep it simple looks like the way forward. Cheers

Hello all, it has been some time. I have started to notice that the waste gate diaphram on my wifes Audi A4 tdi is leaking oil.......I can not see how oil would get there unless the turbo was leaking?

Any thoughts or advice...thanks

Does anyone have any ideas where I can find an external door handle (front near side) for a 1996 mark 4 Fiesta? They are £30+ from Fords. Have looked on ebay but there aren't any (only a drivers side one). Have tried local scrappies but none. Have I got to cough up thirty notes to Ford? Hope not. Read more

Cheers David, got one through one of those brokers for £7! Many thanks for your help.

My friend has an 02 mondeo 2.0 zetec. He says that the remote fob no longer activates the cental locking so he has to manually use the key in drivers door which will then activate the central locking ok. He has replaced the battery in the key fob but this has not changed the situation. However, his local Ford dealer says that he needs to have the key reprogrammed now that he has fitted a new battery? Can anyone confirm if this is likely to put things right or is there something else we could try first? Read more

:obtain all keys fitted with remote control
:turn ignition key from posistion 0 to position two , 4 times witin 6 seconds .
:turn ignition switch to posistion 0

Can anyone shed any light on a "popping" noise that is heard from within the tranmission of an N reg Peugeot 106. It could be a number of items, the clutch is very sticky shifting up and down. I think this is the clutch on its way out.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers

\\the cable emerges from its cover above the gearbox and attaches to the clutch operating lever. Use a light oil (3in1 or similar) and oil near the cable cover.

(had to do that on SWMBO's twice and son's)

The operating lever can bend , fracture and break (son broke SWMBO's - she was not please) - gearbox out job. Check by observation when someone in car operates clutch.

If all fails, it's probably the clutch plate or springs. Clutches appear to be good for around 100k miles with normal use..

I suspect the cable is frayed..- and a new cable is cheaper and easier than all other alternatives

Chas{P}

Probably not the same. Based on Motaquip information these are the details:

1.9td's up to 5/98 used a VFL208 (aftermarket)/VFL354 (OE) filter

1.9td's from 6/98 and all 2.0 HDi's use a VFL427

Question spot welding
hefty

Prior to spot welding on a car, is it sufficient to remove the battery in order to protect the ECU? and are there any other devices that should be isolated electrically? Thanks in advance. Read more

if i had to do it, i would disconect the battery and ecu! although battery surge protectors can be found fairly cheap, so it may be worth buying one for peace of mind

you may end up paying more to have radio code/ecu rest depending on car

i have a 2001 406 110 hdi.I was having cold start problems so fitted new glow plugs, that cured it for a few weeks then it started playing up again, sounds like running on 3 cylinders until you blip the throttle then it picks up and runs on four. Now when i pull up at junction etc it starts surging but picks up when you pull away.Car seems to have all its power.I have changed the fuel filter last week but hasn't made any difference,I have also tested the glow plugs and they were fine.Any ideas, hope its not something nasty(big bills) Read more

i got a bleep and Antipollution fault on the centre display. This
has happened before and i think it just means to change
the fuel filter,i done this and its been a lumpy cold
starter since. Then the other day i changed the fuel filter again(£10
a filter) and still the same so now i will wait
for the Millers to arrive.I quite often drive the car like
i stole it anyway ha ha!!. Will let you know if
it cures it.thanks

Put half a pint of petrol in the tank its the same as putting injector cleaner in.

I will be changing a worn CV joint on a friend's 1992 Nissan Sunny. I've done them on LR Defenders' but not a Sunny. Anyone done one? Anything I should watch out for? Is it straightforward? Will anything go 'PING' when I open it? Read more
