Hope someone can help here as wiring definitely ain't my forte.
What would be the probable cause of ignition-timing sensor wires burning out and is it a auto spark or a DIY job to repair? TIA Read more
Hi,
You will have to excuse me but im having a dilema.... and i cant spell, and im a female.
Driving home last night and a badger came out in front of me.... hit it and its damaged my front bumper.
i need a total new bumper, my car is a metalic silver, Rover 25 new shape 2003.
If i claim of my insurance my excess is £350....
How much would it actually be to buy one and get it fitted or sprayed and fitted... a rough guideline will be a great help.
Many thanks

I would try a breakers yard. It doesn't have to be top condition, it can be made good before it's sprayed if there are any scrapes on it.
I have a Sony Radio/Cassette with 6 disc multichanger. Model number XR-CA400.
For no apparent reason, the volume up button has started to give me problems. Sometimes it will just increase the volume to full volume all by itself, as if I was holding the button in. I can reduce the volume by pressing the volume down button. If i take the detachable fascia off and put it back on, although the unit lights up, I can't get it to switch on.
I am guessing that there is obviously a problem with the volume up button jamming or something. My question is - has anyone encountered something like this before? Is is worth me trying to open up the detachable fascia plate and see if there is anything obvious? I am scared to do this in case the full "insides" come apart and then it will be rendered useless! I have a sony head unit too with a multichanger in the boot, and I find that I too have problems with it, but to your extent.
A good wipe of the gold contacts on both fascia and unit usually clears it up until the next time. I use cotton buds if there are some around, or my finger if not!
Modern Ford diesel engine. £14.00 Unleaded Petrol. £42.00 Diesel. Probably a residual £2 or £3 of diesel already in the tank.
The vehicle runs, seemingly unaffected. Its only gone far enough to get it the two miles home from the gas station.
What would be your pragmatic thoughts ? Read more
I had a cambelt snap on me about 6 years ago. Driving a hire car (a rented wreck) - an ancien Orion.
Hi,
My 330D (54reg, 35k miles) has started being a pain to start when hot.
Obviously - its under warranty and will go in when I can.
Has anyone any experience of this. Its only a pain when hot - like stopping/restarting @ motorway services. It always starts 2nd attempt when hot - but 1st when cold.
:((
In anticipation .........

I'll try to keep it short ladies and gentlemen. 11 months after a non-fault accident, my Mercedes-approved body shop has failed to get the car in good order.
Tomorrow, they are coming yet again to take the car away. We've gone down from about 16 faults to 3 now (there was a small increase in faults on trip #4);
o bootlid interior is loose
o new driver's door has been touched up not resprayed (it came back with defective paintwork at top of door)
o worst of all: I can hear outside traffic noise perfectly clearly from the driver's seat
My insurance company paid them months ago as "common sense would tell [me] that after four months, if we don't pay the bill, we'd be sued..". Thanks. (Can I name them?)
The local Mercedes Benz garage and Mercedes Benz customer care have been less useful than a chocolate pot, often not knowing where my car is or insisting eveything is fixed when it's not.
Any ideas on ending the nightmare? Consumer Credit Agency said pay an independant engineer to examine the car then get the money out of the Body Shop. Err .. No thanks. Read more
I did wait for 19 years to buy the S-Class. Things is, it's now down to a trivial 4 points: I'm assuming an inspection will be in the region of £100 or so. It's only worth £4000-£5000 anyway. I don't think a purchaser would even notice.
PS They didn't call yesterday
Interesting one this is........
I am buying a car through UK-car-discount.co.uk. I got an email today telling me:
"In order to ensure we have as much of the required documentation in your file for when your car is allocated a delivery date by the Manufacturer we would ask you to fax (0161-499-7099 ) or post us the following documents:
1 Copy of your driving licence (both parts if it is the new type).
2 A recent utility bill (Gas,Water,Electric etc.)
Please note these documents are required by the Manufacturer to confirm the delivery address and who the vehicle has been sold to.
Never heard of this requirement before, have you?

So what happens if I live in a suitcase, have a full driving license and insurance (at an old address I was evicted from) and said suitcase contains lots of used tenners which I want to spend on a motor caravan to live in!
I end up in the black market and the cash is untracked, and so am I! Another case of the law catching the law abiding and not the criminals!
I'am am going to replace the sump gasket on my 1.6i Astra Mrk 3 (Automatic. Can anyone give me any hints or tips in how to do this. Many thanks Read more

I assume you are after a new Civic. I have been told by a local dealer that there will be no discounting because Honda are very keen that it will be seen as a premium car. I'm after a top spec diesel.
can anyone get me the code for my vectra radio Read more
No, otherwise it defeats the object of having a security code in the first place.
What you need to do is either:-
goto Vauxhall, armed with some kind of ID, and they'll retrieve it from their database for a fee.
or any reputable in car entertainment (ICE) shop, who likewise will retrieve your code for a fee.
cumfray
Some idea of the car and the engine type would help a bit here.
What do you mean by an "ignition-timing sensor?" Does it read off the crank/flywheel or the distributor? How did it get burned.
