Am wanting to buy a new Fiesta - 2006 model Zetec S TDCi with Metallic Paint, Visibility Pack, Climate Control, Leather Trim, Extra Key, Privacy Glass.

The list price for this is £14235, Uk Car broker are quoting £11150 for a pre registered car, Drive the Deal are quoting £11650 for a new one.

What would you recommend, do you think it is safe to buy from internet retailers, do these sound like good deals?

Would appreciate any help/advice anyone has to offer, thanks for your help

When i was working for Toyota i used to supply vehicles to Kev @ UKcarbroker so i can vouch for him, unless he has changed his methods recently all deposits are paid directly to the main dealer so your money is as safe as you walking directly into the dealership and paying it to them.

'when i was working for toyota' ?

Have you moved on then ? Where to ?

Yes i have left toyota although i've still got contacts there. I now work for a broker although we specialise in the contract hire and leasing side of things.

I have also bought through UK Car Broker (assuming that you mean ukcarbroker.co.uk). I didn't have any concerns about this because I only paid the dealer, not the broker.

Anybody can go bankrupt-especially dealers who have big overheads are having a tough time recently. Just look at GM- in my opinion it won't be long before their pensions deficit sends them in to chapter 11- this means you have to pay them- thet don't have to pay anybody else-kind of American spin on bankruptcy. You actually get more protection under distance selling rules than by buying direct from a dealer- you have seven days to hand the car back unless it was ' made to your specification'. If you pay your deposit by credit card your card company is liable to stump up any financial loss you may incur. So online is good.

I aim to buy a new car early next year and a UK internet dealer is offering my choice of spec.to order, being unregistered and supplied by a UK main dealer of the particular marque with full manufacturers warranty at £2,043 below list. The model is not on sale until January and my research with UK main dealers and other UK internet dealers indicates that no discounts anywhere near that figure are on offer. The internet dealer offering this deal has a UK listed address and is an accredited member of Safebuy Assured; Trust UK and RMI which I believe are organisations established to promote confidence in internet car purchasing. The offer is obviously very tempting but being a complete novice in internet car buying and before 'jumping in with both feet' I would appreciate any practical advice from you knowledgeable folk and any good or not so good experiences?

I assume you are after a new Civic. I have been told by a local dealer that there will be no discounting because Honda are very keen that it will be seen as a premium car. I'm after a top spec diesel.
