Has anyone got experience of fitting a JVC 45Wx4 CD tuner (or other brand) in place of the OE unit on a Peugeot 106 1.1 XN (late 96 facelift) version or similar trim level model.
The iso cable connectors from the JVC unit look identical to the OE unit, but there are dire warnings in the JVC manual about how certain speaker wiring configurations, eg commonised return speaker wires, will cause serious damage. There is another forbidden speaker wire configuration but I cannot understand the tiny diagrams (can bearly make it out with my eyesight!!).
The car only has 2 speakers for now but I presume that the 2 rear amplifier stages can be left with no speaker connected?
I was also wondering if I am likely to find some redundant rear speaker cables in the loom. Would make life easier if I decide to install a pair of 6x9 speakers on the back shelf later.
Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all,
been searching but can't find any previous posts on how to clean the injector on Corsa 1.4. I know it's not the hardest thing to do, but sometimes hints/tips are useful.
Anyone point me to anywhere?

If you think your present company's extra is too much I don't think you will find a one-off policy for 10 days any cheaper. The AA's cover is about £10 a day - for you that is £100. Surely that is more than the extra you were quoted by your present lot? How much was the extra, as a matter of interest?
On my 406 hdi (90BHP) 2000 the flexi pipe has gone on the exhaust, this flexi is in 1 piece with the cat, i do not want to purchase the cat as it is fine and very expensive, i just want to replace the flexi, however i have been offered a flexi and cat extremely cheap but i belive it is for the 110BHP) enging although they look very similar, would this fit if i where to cut and clampthe rear section to join the new piece in place and are the brackets in the same positions Read more
Hdi engines as used in Pugs and Citroens attract a lower exise duty £115 and as such the exhaust emissions should be measured a certain failure point. If the replacement Kat is in good order go with it as removing it could cost you dearly in the end.
In traffic yesterday and was overtaken by an unmarked Audi A3 Sporthatch, brand new. Inside were two young men casually dressed but with sharp haircuts. The car was flashing blues and making siren noises, but it is clear that if the car was parked up at the kerb you would never have spotted the lights.
So, not an unmarked traffic car as the occupants were not in uniform. What was it?

My own car. Has 25000 on the clock and has been brilliant apart from one annoying fault. At around 1500 - 2000 rpm you get a sound from the engine which is best described as a regular cracking noise almost like a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. MB say it is a common characteristic of this engine and nothing to worry about but it is driving me nuts. I have been on the Merc-Benz Owners Association forum and it seems I am not alone but MB seem reluctant or unable to resolve the problem which I personally think is a software fault running #1 cylinder too weak.
Anyone else in the same boat out there?

Is injector testing something that's worth doing on a routine basis?
My AA Fleet policy is due for renewal...one van & 2 cars...like my insurance I like to shop around each year so any pointers as to who can provide a similar service? Current renewal around £90 so reasonable value for money methinks.

I have Autoaid provided by Boncaster Insurance 01277 235500.
This is an insurance policy. You have a phone number in case of breakdown or accident, they send out the nearest breakdown truck, you pay the breakdown guy direct and claim the money back from Boncaster. You can pay with plastic. I've used this twice over the years and it has worked well. Recovery lorry there within 45 mins each time, and the money refunded by Boncaster within a week with no hassle. The recovery vehicles are usually plastered with the logos of other recovery services too but they like coming to Autoaid customers because they get the money much quicker.
It covers the driver not the car so any number of cars are covered. My last premium in March this year was £29.
Does anyone know how dear the new Transits (Y reg onwards) are to maintain? I'm thinking specifically about the RWD model with the 125PS engine.

If it's true, why, as was mentioned on a recent police car thread, does a Mondeo ST220 clutch need 14 HOURS to change? That's practically a full working day to get the old clutch out and another full day to get the new one in?
Is it because the profit in cars now comes from the servicing and not the initial sale? Are they designed this way to be as quick and cheap as possible to make, and subsequently expensive for garages to work on?
While on a camping holiday using our Ford galaxy the vehicle would not start and the doors locked themselvss, We were trapped in a very hot vehicle, it was 80f outside, I managed to get out the back. My partener is now too scared to ride in it. The dealer doesn't want to buy back this £11000 vehicle. Has anyone experince this problem --Al O'Dorset Read more
