Hi. Yesterday I bought an P reg, new shape, 1.8 Ford Mondeo Diesel.
Put new batteries (top brand ones)in the key/remote but the remote locking still isnt working. I have pointed it right at the door lock/handle as well as around the car ( I must have looked odd!!). Anyway, no joy at all. The little red light on the key comes on when pressed, but no remote opening/locking.
Has anyone got an idea what might be wrong?
Regards,
Dave

Winter and dark nights are soon to be on us again, and the bicyclists are getting more numerous, and more careless. Almost no bikes have lights now and I'm worried that one day I might hit one. So, in discussion, one of my aquaintances mentioned Hokey Spokes. From the illustration on their web-site they look like Blackpool illuminations. I'm tempted to buy a set for my grandson's bike. There are two possible hazards I can think of - A, he gets mugged by some PFD wanting to steal them - B, He gets run down by someone who is mesmerized by them.
Has anyone seen them on motorcycles, yet? Read more
What use is a spell checker, 'on' is a perfectly valid
word in a different context, but I intended to type in
Safe OR Not!
You could have edited it as part of your most recent post! I've taken the liberty of doing it for you.

Hi
Any tips on how to immobilise a clio immobiliser. Read more
The answer depends on why, is it because the alarm goes off when the car is left locked, is it because the engine won't start etc?
Hi all,
I have spent a while Googling in vain.
Does anyone know if a 2001 Peugeot 206 1.9D LX has a Turbo or not? My girlfriend is thinking of buying one. She wants something quicker than her Renault Clio 1.4 RN petrol.
I've suggested to her that if the Pug does not have a Turbo then forget it.

Save up and get a HDi. Far far far nicer engine, as one would expect being a newer design.
i lost the code for my xsara 1999 v reg its locked out, is there a code i can use or some sites that can unlock my radio or does it need to come out and be sent off to be unlocked??

I got the code for my car from some website for a fiver. Worked fine, but I need to lean on the dealership I bought the car from for the various details. Come to think of it, I had to pay 15 quid to have the numbers looked up when I bought a new key for my car, but the dealer that did it never gave them to me. Might get in touch with them, too.
Hi all,
[I've checked the archive but can't see any info. on this one.]
About to replace the oil separator in the crankcase breather hose. I noticed the metal breather pipe coming up from crankcase has semi hard deposits around it's inside. I don't think I can easily remove the pipe as it seems to be bolted behind the exhaust manifold.
If I scrape some of the crud out, no doubt some may fall down the pipe. Will this be a problem? Is there a better way?
Apparently it was cleaned out last year by mechanic doing a head gasket for me. Don't know why it's filled-up again this much.
Cheers,

Thanks for replies.
I don't think I can get pipe off tho. as I said it seems to be bolted-on behind the exhaust manifold. I'll know better when it's next up on ramps.
I'll try scraping out for now.
Cheers,
Pete
hi again, back for some help for my 1996 xantia 1.8 16v .
I think one of my injectors is leaking, so i will replace the upper and lower o-ring. The dealer says both upper and lower are the same - is this correct?
Also does anyone know where i can buy 5 of these rings on either the net or in Leicester? (i.e. all four lowers, plus the leaking injector top o-ring). The dealer wants over £10 for what amount to five pieces of copper. GSF and eurocarparts says main dealer only- great!
thanks for all replies

Thanks mjm, like you ive had a good read through the Haynes and it appears good on this topic with lots of photos and clear step-by-step instructions.
Looks like dealer it is, my only gripe was £10 or so is not a lot of money, but over £2 each for something that costs pennies (if that) seems a total rip off.
Oh well at least it will be spend wisely on some French executives AGM!
Will post back soon.
hi could anybody tell me if the front foglight on an 03 clio is the same as a 2001 model as i need a replacement

That's what I meant Cheddar - despite me not wording it very well, I was asking thomp if the 2001 car he was looking at specifically was the facelift one.
I didn't know all the dates though!

The "That's lucky" thread has made me think I should also offer praise where praise is due.
I called NU Direct to ask how much to add business cover, quoted £32, not bad I thought, phoned back to arrange, "sorry sir we have miss quoted you", oh dear, "it won't actually cost you anymore at all", are you sure FOC!, "we will send you a revised schedule".
Well I have the revised schedule and there it is, my wife and I are both insured to use my car while going about our respective employer's business, apparently the £32 related to being self employed.
Although I would have claimed the additional cost from my employer I still consider myself quoted happy. Read more
"Dave - Cheapest isn't always best"
Couldn?t agree more, that?s probly true for most things, and so for most things I usually buy the best that I can afford because most things I buy have knobs, buttons and things I can play with.
But insurance, oh man, who wants to shell out the price of a widescreen TV every year for something that doesn?t even come in a box? Or in Adam?s case, a fairly decent plasma TV.
For me, it?s about staying legal, most of my driving is done with my kids in the car and they?re my insurance policy that I will always take the greatest care I can. I haven?t claimed in my twenty years of driving, but now that I?ve said that...
I?m not actually with NU, nor am I with the cheapest I could find, I?m with a company that had the easiest on-line interface as I was drowning in work at renewal time.
went to garage today saw a automatic 2002 02 REG Vauxhall astra 1.6i envoy, 6000 miles on clock, petrol. price £5495.00. Trading in my car vauxhall vectra 92,000 miles on clock 1998 model 1.6, he said he would only give me £400 tops for it. Is this a good deal or should I haggle to get more for my car or money off new car. also can I ask for longer warranty or extras or is that only with brand new cars. Help please. Read more
Well hubby went to see the car and didn't like it, no alloys, wrong colour, to basic the list goes on...... so hunting again for new car that we can't agree on. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.

That made me sound like the old chinese guy out the Orange advert.
