This is picture of what the next Yaris might look like according to sources in the Netherlands :

Seems to be good looking and can only increase Toyota sales, even interested myself if they get the price right (about the same as current models). Read more
is an oxygen sensor the same as a lambda sensor?

they do not look difficult to replace is this the case?
I understand that it can sometimes be a struggle to get the old one unscrewed, especially if it was misguidedly fitted with the wrong kind of thread lubricant. It is said to be easier done when hot.
There is a special kind of socket that avoids the risk of damaging the wires.
If it is the air-vented kind it might be worth trying cleaning it in situ carefully to remove road dirt, and hoovering gently.
That worked when my Lambda light came on with the O2 sensor code about 50,000 miles ago. It and the catalyst are on 300,000 miles now.

I have just been told by a Honda dealer that my car requires a new oxygen sensor. This will cost about £170 including vat and fitting. Can this kind of part be sourced from else where and fitted by my self?
Also is it possible that there is nothing wrong with the sensor and it is something else that is at fault eg the catalytic converter?
thanks
Al

All,
Wifes 99T 306 1.6 suffering from a few weird issues:
* Chattering relay (sounds like indicator relay) usually after indicator has been cancelled, only when moving, and usually only after having indicated right. No light on dash though, and doesnt appear to have flashed indicators externally.
* Airbag light came on - only once whilst driving, but has happened in the last couple of weeks when the above has been happening.
* Speedo / Rev counter go to max then min, then eventually back to normal again. Not happened for a couple of weeks, but worth mentioning if anyone seen this before.
many thanks for any ideas. Dave. Read more
Thanks everyone for suggestions, i'll report back how I get on.
In answer to your q's though - it doesnt have Pug branded sparkplugs, and now you wrote that I remember hearing about weird stuff happening on 406's? I'll do this first I think.
Indicator stalk sounds pricey, but if it gets much worse it sounds like replacement is the best bet here.
many thanks, dave.
Anyone know of any smart ways of opening a boot? The catch is that I think the lock is busted. Was working fine up until when I tried it yesterday. Won't "unlock" from central locking (remote and key operated) or using the key direct into the lock. Doesn't sound like the motor is working at all from the central locking and when using the key there is no resistance (if u know what I mean) that would indicate the key has engaged properly and is moving the lock mechanism. Tried spare key as well with same result Read more
all sorted now. Thanks for your help
A friend has a problem with his 1997, 1.4 Corsa. First problem was that he had been going through a litre of coolant in under a week. Then a week ago the car wouldn?t start, it was taken to a garage, they replaced the starter motor. It ran for a few days, the coolant was topped up with just antifreeze which resulted in a smokey exhaust. Yesterday again the engine would not start and shook the car when it was tried. We suspect that the coolant has found its way into a cylinder filled it over night and when it was started tried to compress the coolant in the cylinder. What damage could be expected if this was what happened?

For sure the head gasket has gone. What might concern me is that you may have bent a con rod - depending on how far the engine turned before it locked up. I would get the garage to carefully measure the piston positions when they've got the head off to check one of the pistons is not lower than the others.

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....
Sorry moddies but I know HJ gets a lot of junk mail at his regular address which he doesn't have time to read so this is just to say Cathy/Growlette was very honored by his signed card, the more so since I just got back to the Land of Sun & Fun last night and gave it to her today -- her birthday.
Says she's going to frame it along with the pix of our meet-up.
Stay well.

I pay around £375 to insure my car which includes protected no claims and legal protection.
I obtained a quote from my current insurers web site. As far as I can gauge its like for like. The quote came in at £250 less 10% for applying on line. So much for loyal customers eh? Read more

I found that Tesco online gave a non online renewal, I had to go to the website again to say I was a new customer again, to get my 5% discount.

The plastic body-coloured bumper of my (reflex silver) '02 Polo has got scratched through to the black plastic; not a large scratch but deep enough to have removed the paint right through.
If anyone's got a suggestion/suggestions for covering this, I'd be grateful. Can VW supply spray paint, or something like that? It certainly not serious enough to replace the whole bumper for.
Many thanks,

This happened to my wife's Toyota Avalon, and the touch up paint didn't work (probably in part to my lack of knowledge of how to do it). Anyway, she bought some self adhesive stickers (flowers I think), and this covered the problem fairly well. Her car now appears to have a driver who likes flowers rather than a driver who doesn't want to pay several hundred dollars to fix the problem.
Any one else found the New revamped Parkers guide to be very poor compared to the original layout? i noticed mumbler recently said \"The Parkers price guide has been revamped and is now nearly as useless as it is illegible.\" is this a common view shared by others? If so should we let Parkers know?

No complaints on our mail delivery.
Except, when was the last time you got anything you wanted to find, poping through the letterbox??
Even a bill would be a nice change, they don\'t come anymore, the payment is grabbed from your account before you\'ve seen your cash yourself!!

The car looks OK, but how much is real Toyota and how much comes from the imagination of the computer artist? It has the overall proportions of a Citroen C2.
