Morning All,
Following on from a previous thread in relation to running diesel engines on vegetable oil, I would like to give Biodiesel a whirl.
I've used Google to try to find retailers in my area, but to no avail.
Does anyone know of any retailers around Southport/Liverpool/Chester?
Many thanks

Hi, I am looking after a 95 1.5 Civic coupe for a relative at the minute. My problem relates to the temperature gauge.
As the engine warms up the needle rises to just above the c for cold mark but then falls again to the bottom (as if the engine was not running) and then back up to above c then back down etc etc.. However there is plenty of hot air coming from the blowers even when the needle is at the bottom.
I am right thinking the cause is down to a broken thermostat or could it possibly be a faulty gauge? Any advice welcome. Read more
sounds like a faulty connection on the temp gauge sender unit.
Drove a Beetle today but had problem at the garage trying to fill up tank.
As the filler cap is virtually upright i just couldn't avoid spilling excess petrol left in hose from previous user all over the place as i tried to get nozzle into the filler flap.
The only other car i know that has filler caps like this is a Jaguar XJ or a motorbike.
Never owned either so whats the secret of filling these up without creating a fire hazard?
any ideas anyone?

Always makes me smile seeing people tilting the hose up to drain the last drop into their tanks without realising the shutoff valve is in the hand trigger.
Hi guys,
got a corsa 1.4 (vegas) which has a slight oil leak at sump bolt. It appears to be coming from the sump gasket and I can't see a leak from anywhere above this point. Also have a bit of emulsion (think air's getting in at the same place).
Is it possible to replace the sump-gasket without removing the exhaust? Is it worth trying to 'nip' up the sump bolts 1st, or can this make things worse?
thanks

Nothing to lose by trying to nip them up but dont groist them up with a girt big breaker bar or you will distort things. You will have to remove the exhaust.

Simplicate and add lightness!!
Can someone inform me how to adjust the injection (fuel flow) to my Laguna. I feel someone adjusted it (I have higher revs now)to improve its performance. This has caused cold starting to be a problem. Many thanks. Read more
My tickover has been adjusted and not by the throttle cable can someone tell me how to adjust this. It has affected my cold starting badly, resulting in flooding if I touch the throttle gently at all.
Many thanks

Hi all,
I've just bought a Peugeot 1.9 gti off a friend. It's a great car - only one previous owner and 45000 miles on the clock. The only problem is there is a persistent oil leak. We thought it was the crankshaft oil seal, so removed the gearbox and replaced it. Although it doesn't leak as much as before, it still leaks. What else could it be? I've changed the sump gasket and put sealant on both sides of the gasket before refitting, but it still leaks! The oil collects on some of the heads of the bolts holding the sump on (the ones nearest the gearbox), so I suspect it might still be leaking from behind the flywheel somewhere as I can't think where else it would be coming from.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - my driveway is becoming an oily mess! Read more
SjB - one reason the 205 GTI could toast other cars was that even the 1.9 (130bhp) car only weighed 880 kg. Newer models are weighed down with all kinds of gubbins.
Bit of a stab in the dark, but Action Vehicles may be worth trying, they may have what they're after or be able to point them in the right direction.

Also known as "Shermans" for the same reason.
Hi all,
With a six month break before starting a new job, I'm keen to spend the Spring/Summer buying and selling some cars for profit.
The general model would be buying certain types of car in areas of the country where they're cheapest (or from dealer forecourts), and delivering them to a friend at home, who would advertise and sell.
My target is to buy and sell 1 or 2 cars a week in this way - but I'm confused about the legalities.
If someone could answer some or all of these questions, I'd be really grateful -
a) Presumably I need to declare myself as a "Motor Trader". Is this as simple as completing the relevant part of the V5 form in each case, or do I need to pre-register with some central body?
b) How can I check on what rates of tax, national insurance and VAT I'd be liable for?
c) How does the DVLA or the Inland Revenue detect if you're buying and selling cars for profit?
d) What's the best solution for insurance?
e) Am I obliged to offer some form of warranty, or can cars be "sold as seen"?
f) Any useful sources of advice/info out there?
Really appreciate any help.
Cheers

You also need to take a training course. You can do some homework for it now.
1/ Find a cripple and kick his crutch away.
2/ Steal an ice lolly or sweet from any small child (and grin when they cry)
3/ Help an old lady on the bus and deliberately leave her shopping at the bus stop, wave cheerily at her as the bus drives away. (if you can filch her purse from her pocket as you do, you dont need the training course.)
Having done all that you should be ready to join the ranks of the used car dealer.
i have a 2.5 v6 omega. my engine light came on so i did the paper clip trick. it gave me code 13 which is a oxygen sensor. but is there any way to which i can find out which one it is??? dealer has said they are about £135 +vat each...... they say that i should change both at same time (they would say that ££££) and are they easy to change myself ?? Read more
I think you will find that the code 13 is the sensor for the emmissions on the exhaust pipe,on my carlton its located on the front pipe, but beware if it breaks (which it will )its a new front pipe!!!
The sensor seals itself in with the extreme heat and will have to be removed with the use of a welding torch or similar.the sensors can be purchased from autoparts for around £45.
hope this helps.
Well spotted that man. Just deleted that one as well. DD.
