Forgive my ignorance, but is there easy multistorey parking near T3? I cannot find any information on the web at all, only references to open air parking. I just need to park for about a couple of hours or so.
Having never driven to T3, is the multistorey parking easy/reasonably cheap?
Advice gratefully received.

I have 1977 Cortina GL 1600cc which I have owned since new.It has been off the road-dry storage- for the past ten years and I now need my garage back and know that even in retirement I will not have the time to restore to classic condition.Free to anyone who will give it a good home and can trailer it away.

My VW Golf Driver 1.6 G reg started making a knocking noise on the motorway whenever I went over 60 mph,the noise was coming from the front somewhere.Later,it seemed ok at high speeds in a straight line, but when I took roundabouts,a heavy grinding noise started. Its now an intermittant grinding/clunking noise ,mainly at low speeds,on corners. My mechanic doesnt seem to know exactly what it is,but he said 2 of the engine mountings had gone anyway, which may or may not be what the problem is.If it is a front wheel bearing, how do I check for sure?Someone told me that with front wheelbearings you dont check for wheel play, which is what I thought you did.Recently replaced cv joints, and about to replace front and gearbox engine mounting, but it seems unlikely that they would make a grinding noise.Any help much appreciated. Thanks Tony, I will give that at try this weekend and may well change the engine and gearbox mounts as well. Regards Tod.
Car nicked last week (yes, my second W123 230TE stolen within 4 weeks) gone to wherever they go to complete with its new tyres.
So, had to hire a car, and got an Astra sized car for the weekend for £75 (after quite a bit of haggling).
Chap delivered (not bad for £75 for the centre of London) a Megane. Is that the ugliest car in the world? (16v 1.6 'estate' version.) Maybe the Kangoo is worse.
And how did it cope with 600 miles? Uncomfortable seats; a very thirsty 34mpg according to the computer at a steady 77mph up the A1; horrid plastic box - never want to see it again. Noisier than my Merc was. Made no noies at idle tho' - thank goodness for the rev counter. Hard ride - felt every bump and stone, just like the Princess & the pea. And finally, what an embarassing vehicle to be seen driving!
I also spent most of the time thinking that it was horribly sluggish. But with just me & no luggage (instead of 3 of us and enough luggage for a dressy wedding), it was the nippiest thing, particularly over 4,500 revs. Read more
I hate to think of the number of times I
see them "bouncing" along - the last thing a hydraulic Cit
should do - as I mutter "new spheres needed mate" under
my breath.
>>
What one needs is a person to service them that knows what they are doing. There is no need for new spheres though. Ours where fitted with valves when the car was under three years old and the spheres are repressurised about every twelve months. It costs us about £25 each time.
I agree with comment about the 2.2 HDI engine, it is a beauty, very smooth and quiet. I hope the new 2.0 litre engine, which is to be fitted to the revamped C5, is as good, with (hopefully) much reduced weight and better economy.
We will have to be careful here, if many more supporters of Xantias post, we might just create some statistical support for our form of logic.
I ran out of diesel doh.
I am currently having problems priming the engine.
the fuel is up to the fuel pump but I cannot get it through the pump up to the injectors.
Do you just get the fuel to the pump and then keep turning over the engine or is there a way of getting it through the pump?
Cheers
Dave

Hello,
I'm considering the purchase of a roof box for my 1999 Vectra Estate. As I have never considered a roof box before I'd like to know if there are any makes/types I should avoid etc.
I've already had someone tell me that it doesn't really matter where I buy the box itself, but I should buy compatible roof bars from the dealer.
All advice appreciated.
Kind regards,

Advice please:
Had an offer to buy old camry estate 1989 with 100k on for £500. Very good shape for year. Do these engines and cars last as don't see many on road today. I also considered an older volvo estate maybe 740 or 940 around H, or J reg. Most have about 125,000 miles + on them. Body looks OK, are these a better bet and is say 140.000 miles on a 2.3l 940 volvo going to last or a bit too tired at that age? I know the history is very important but most have some history but rarely complete. I'm talking petrol engines here not diesels by the way. In terms of petrol engines which cars have an exellent reputation for longevity?
Thanks Read more
You're paying too much. You should be able to get them for 'free to a good home for restoration' non-runners. People are very fond of them, and will give them away rather than send them to be broken. The big killer of these 123s is rust; the mechanicals carry on for ever. So if you have a good body stick with it, and drop an engine in from elsewhere for next to nothing. The interiors get pretty tatty too after 20 years.

tinyurl.com/2bvwl - very rough indeed (thought about getting it as a 'decoy' car to leave in the street, as you cannot lock it!)

The other day I bought an indicated 20 litres of diesel in a jerry can for the boat I am restoring. To calibrate the dipstick in the new fuel tank I very carefully measured it into the tank 5 litres at a time, using an old antifreeze container that had a clear view stripe and was calibrated in litres.
I discovered I had only been sold 17 litres. That seems a big inaccuracy to me. Has anyone else ever tried checking the amount of fuel they have been dispensed? Read more
One way to measure your fuel may be by weighing your
container empty and full. If you can find out the density
of petrol at the correct temperature - otherwise use water and
assume that one litre weighs one kilo.
That's the way they measure my 10 litres of Crozes Hermitage when I buy it in the Rhone valley!

Good evening my learned friends,
Whilst doing a brake shoe change on my Mk 4/5 Fiesta (facelifted), i noticed that the o/s rear shock needed replacing due to oil weeping on the side of it. Replacement looks fairly easy, i have a slight problem regarding the set up of the new shocks. Whilst torqueing the wheel nuts up i noticed a clonk from the shock assembly, at this time the car was still off the ground safely on stands, so the suspension had dropped down with no vehicle weight to compress it. I looked at the top of the shock in the boot, the nut is tightened up correctly against the top mounting, but there is a movement at the top of the shock which you can move by hand quite easily in a circular movement.
After putting the car back on the floor, i checked in the boot again, the suspension has compressed a bit as expected, but the top mounting is still sitting about 10mm or so above the inner wing in the boot, i don't think this is supposed to be like this, i checked the other side and it is exactly the same which makes me think it is supposed to be like this.
Can anyone throw any light on this matter regarding instalation and set up, the Haynes book is a bit vague.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi everyone,
We run a year 2000 Seat Toledo TDI 110 Red eye.
On driving the car today, after 4 miles, the engine suddenly lost power akin to the brakes being applied and staying on or loss of Turbo. The car was gutless but drivable. We parked up for 2 hours, came back and restarted and the car was fine. After another 4 miles the same thing happened = gutless but drivable. We parked up at a shop for 3 minutes, restarted and the car was ok. I would have expected to lose power again but we were home within minutes.
Any ideas whats causing this drastic loss of power. It only seems to happen when hot and after a restart its ok, but only for a while!
Thanks in advance.............

Judging by other forums, there are a lot of people fitting a Merc (Pierburg?) MAF in place of the standard Bosch unit. Costs between £40-£50 from Merc dealers.
The part number is - A 611 094 00 48.
Apparently you will need a size T20 or T25, 5 (five) spline torx/star bit (Maplins) to remove the screws, although some have managed with pliers!
Also, I believe a locating tab or similar needs to be trimmed off the plug with a stanley knife.
Other than that ,it works a treat, and supposedly lets it rev a bit more freely too.
Charge is £2.10 for half hour. £3.70 for first hour.
I normally find it best to drive to the top floor/roof, level 5 I think. There are lifts which are big enough to take trolleys.
When leaving get the big lift to the pay stations and then walk round the corner to the smaller lifts, which will take you to your car park level.
Good luck! I don't have to do it too often nowadays, I've got all my customers trained to meet outside at the drop-off point.
