Blimey, who\'s been a busy HJ?
Where on earth did VW come up with the idea of the Crossfox? And why did they decline to call it the mildly annoyed shrew, which is a little more apt? Read more
Anyone know how I can easily decode an intermittant ABS fault without paying local dealer £30 plus vat? Read more

Simplicate and add lightness!!
Hi everyone. I have a Golf for sale and was wondering if anyone can advise me where to advertise it and what price I good expect for it. The car is a \"D\" reg, is that 1986? It is a limited edition Coco Chanel GTi cabriolet.
I would really appreciate any help possible.

If the car is really special, it might get perhaps £3k from an enthusiast, but only £1200 or so from the general market.
If there is an owner's club, and the car is any good, that would be the first place I'd try. Failing that, one of the specialist Golf GTi magazines that you get in larger newsagents.
Try www.clubgti.com/forum.asp
For anyone who doesn't remember the Coco Chanel edition (like me) there's a page here: www.stephengrant.com/golf/diary.htm
The EML on my 97 Vectra diesel comes on when started up,but goes off after you start to move. There is no loss of power, and everything seems fine. This has only started to happen recently, and I can't fathom out whats up.It seems pointless going to have the code read, when all seems tickettyboo.
Anyone else had/got this problem? Read more
How bizzare.
I looked on the Topbuzz site and after trawling through it,I decided to do the,'turn the ignition on and off 30 times' thing, just to see what would happen.
So far the light has not come back on!!!!!
So perhaps some of the things on there could apply to diesels.
I know that shrugged shoulders of despair will result, but please sympathize and indulge me by answering these questions:
Can the battery on my Saab 9.3 Tid be charged (with a mains operated battery charger) in situ whilst still connected to the electrics ?
Apart from the radio code, do I need to be aware anything else if the battery is disconnected: ie will the ECU and other electronic gubbins reset itself etc ?
With thanks in anticipation

I?m not a huge Corvette fan but I must say it's pretty damn impressive when you see it in person. I love how they print ?405 Horsepower? in a flashy stainless steel logo on the sides lol! The air vents and bright red brake clamps look very cool. The funny thing was there was also a new Mustang Cobra R two rows over. So I got to check out some of America?s best in the same parking lot lol.
Do you have ether of these cars in the UK?

We ain't gonna sell many Z06's in the UK with gas at our prices!
It isn't pretty, it isn't a nice interior, it is a typical mass produced muslecar but.... until you have been propelled round a circuit in one by a driver who tests these creatures on that circuit, reserve your judgement.. the torque is absolutely unbelievable and the handling, even on road tyres, is incredible for an out of the box $50 grand car (as long as it has the optional suspension kit)
I want one! :-)
Do you guys have Vemac in the UK? I read that they have a car called the RD320 that has a Honda V6. Does Honda own Vemac? If not is Vermac a Japanese company?

My Pug 306 has just failed its MOT on high emissions -mainly CO reading. The mechanic suggested that the lambda may be at fault. Is he right and any other ideas of how I can reduce the emissions -apart from a new Cat? Read more

I have a Ford Escort 1.4L 1988 E Reg, which I've had for a couple of years now. I recently had a new set of springs fitted (front and rear) to pass an MoT, but ever since then I've noticed that the steering seems to pull to the side. Sometimes it is very marked but other times it is only slight; it is usually worse after making a full-lock turn and it can veer to the left or the right. I have had the wheel alignment checked and that is fine. I originally thought it may be a suspension problem, i.e. worn dampers, which had only become noticeable when new springs were fitted, but surely this would result in the car veering to one side only and would happen all the time.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received! Read more
You may not have a problem.Apart from possible under inflated tyre`s as you said if it was a front brake problem it would be there most of the time.I think it may be a case of the car is riding slightly higher off the road and so and difference in camber of the road is now more noticeable than you are used to.I expect someone will correct me if I`m wrong but I think that is what you are experiencing.ride must be better though
I have a brand new Berlingo Multispace, there is rust on the rear suspension strut, not painted at all, is this normal?
Is there anything I can do about it now to prevent further damage?
Thanks Read more
I wouldn't worry, I'll look in the morning at the rear suspension of the Picasso and my C5 tomorrow. I'm sure my Xsara (ok, I sold it at nearly 4 yrs) but I think that had a little rust on the arms.
HJ,
Sorry, on re-reading my message was a little unclear....the examples were for new ideas to make the 'news' section a little more varied.
