I know these things drink fuel, but surely my calculations can't be right - at maximum power and using their figures, I get almost 250 litres/minute fuel consumption...
(108920 x 0.278 = 30104 lb/hour)
(30104 x 0.454 = 13667 kg/hour)
(13667 / 0.922 = 14824 lit/hour)
(14824 / 60 = 247 lit/min)
Considering a Type 22 / 23 using just their cruise engines typically only uses 20-30 litres/minute per engine (they have 2 plus 2 boost engines) then you can see just how thirsty this thing is... Also, the fuel tank on my Yaris would keep it going for all of 12 seconds...

It was a Lamborghini Murcielago vs a Pagoni Zonda c12s.
Pagani - Italys newest supercar made in Modena.
The reason why the Lambo was slower was that they had to get the car rolling gently before flooring it - to save the clutch from melting.
The Zonda is also considerably lighter - about 400kg! - Which is the reaon why it is quicker.
I recently had a replacement engine fitted in my 1991 BX TGD.
The engine was a 162 - a somewhat earlier type to the DB8/6 fitted originally. It came with a CAV injector pump and its existing injectors but ran very badly. The garage replaced it and the injectors with my original engine\'s Bosch pump and injectors and everything runs very smoothly - BUT the engine is not as lively and not as fast.
Technical data indicates the later 1905 cc diesal was about 5 hp stronger. Should I expect a fall off in performance because of this - should the pump be tuned?
A final point, 3 injectors are leaking - would this reduce power significantly? Read more
Andrew,
Whatever your decision about the overall condition of the engine those leaky injectors do need sorting, I assume you mean that the small bore "leak-off" pipes are losing diesel where they join the injector??
Frankly there is not much to "tune-up" on a diesel. A new air/fuel filter would be a good starting point and the only other thing really is diesel pump timing. There is only one setting for this and it is the right setting...and we'd hope that was how the guys who fitted it have set it!
Do you think the engine sounds "too" smooth? Sometimes if the pump is set a bit retarded the normal diesel knock is muted...and the performance drops off.
Good luck.

Hello
I quite recently got my own car, and as such have little experience of how dealerships and warranties work. The problem is that my car has about 8 months left of the original Nissan warranty, and it's got a few problems that I want sorted out before the warranty expires. Thing is, these problems are fairly intermittent but still quite serious. If I take my car into the Nissan dealership for them to look at and "investigate" the problems, what happens if they do not find anything wrong? Do I get charged for the labour/expenses involved in looking into problems that should be covered by the warranty?
Sorry if this is a spectacularly silly question, but I could do with some advice so I don't end up out of pocket.
Thanks for the help!

AA check is an idea but pretty pricey. In the end if you say there is a fault but it can't be confirmed by the dealer or he doesn't agree, I am not sure that the AA saying there is too is going to help much.
I have a 94 3.9 Auto V8 which after having the oil cooler pipes changed developed an intermitent power loss. It can happen at any speed and the revs just drop to nothing. If I hit the throttle it will pick up.
I've tried keeping the throttle in the same position and knocking the auto into neutral and immediately the engine revs dramatically.
So far I've done the following
New Distributor Cap, rotor arm and leads
New vacuum unit on the dizzy
New coil
New remote amplifier module
and it's still doing it.
When the oil cooler pipes were changed it was steam cleaned at the front of the engine bay. The car was running perfectly prior to this work.
I am desperate for some advice to sort this problem.
Please, please, please help.

I think you're probably right Nick but anyone who can give advice on the most likely positions to look at would be most appreciated.
The damn thing is sending me nuts not to mention the impact on my wallet.
Recently I noticed that some rubber trimmings around my car has dirt stains which is so difficult to be removed. Quite visible around the windscreen weather strips. How could I remove these stain and preserve them from getting more in the near future.
Thanks. Read more
Is that swears by it or smears by it?
Hi, I buy my diesel fuel from Tesco (Always). A friend says that I should buy from Shell because it has more lubricity.
Is he right please?

Good debate! I run Shell in my 405 along with a bottle of veg oil, I love the smell and it seems to run better, should improve the lubrication factor as well. I'm aware of the duty charge payable to customs. Where I live Shell is as cheap as any other type - 75.9/Ltr.
Steve.
Ok,
I will start this one off...
So who do you think the new Stig is then....?
Could be female from the physique...? Read more
I agree with you. When he was driving on Sunday i did notice his driving style was very different from the previous stig. Plus i have alos noticed that this stig is a little bit taller the the previous.
Well look at that
Went to do some shopping this afternoon (didn't go yesterday - needed food!) Total journey distance about 20 miles and saw the sftermath of 4 accidents (luckily none serious)
1. Saxo in outer lane of a dual carriageway had braked for roundabout but gone straight on where road curved left onto roundabout onto central (raised) reservation damaging front of car.
2. Saxo had been rearended by a Metro at another roundabout so it went into a 406 in front - damage front and rear
3. Saxo was stopped on a slip road, bad damage to offside front and front wheel/suspension hanging off.
4. Saxo and BMW stopped by side of dual carriageway, Saxo behind BMW which had front badly damaged, didn't see what had happened to Saxo.
The first two seemed to be driven by youngsters (ie under 25) other two had middle aged people standing by them so it's not all down to "baseball capped youths"!
What is it about Saxos?? Read more
perhaps the BMW drivers were blinded by the rear fog lights being on all the time. Citroen drivers drive with the front fogs on all the time, so maybe they've progressed to having the rears on as well.....
and then I open te next thread and he tells me where he's been
Doh!
