Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out the build date of a "new" Range Rover? Appreciate your help. Read more
Quite fancy a CRV but I cannot get any replies about real time MPG on the petrol, anybody got any ideas when the Diesel is due out, I have heard it's about early 2004, anybody able to narrow it down any further? If it's anything like VW's Touran we're still waiting when it was supposed to be Autumn 2002.
Cheers

Mr Honda does not like diesel.
I had an accident in my car. It\'s now being fixed, the trouble is I dont want it any more.
I have been looking at ford focus\'s on the autotrader website, what do people think about buying an ex lease or company car with high mileage the focus? Are cars like that designed to cope with high mileage or is it not worth wasting money on one?

Hello,
The indicator unit on my Ford Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X (R reg) has just gone up in smoke.
Can anyone tell me if i need to remove the steering wheel to replace it, or just the plastic surround.
Obviously the car has an air bag, hence i would rather not have to remove it.

Hi C,
No you won\'t need to take the wheel off. Just remove the plastic surround by undoing the screws underneath and you can get at the switch to change it quite easily.
What symptoms make you think it\'s the switch and not the relay?

The gears on my 99 Mitsubishi colt have become a problem.
1st and 2nd on the downchange can be a pig to find, yet are OK when I\'m stationary, saying that none of the gears can be called smooth at all.
I\'ve tried double clutching yet doesn\'t seem to help (do I need to blip the throttle).
Anybody have a colt with the same problems, and any possible solutions?

The cars done 42K, I change into 1st only when I'm creeping forwards, but 2nd is difficult to engange unless near stationary, also 1st to 2nd is clunky too.
Is there anyway of adjusting the hydraulic clutch (just to see if it's clutch drag).
The gear change is better when the car is warm (20 mins on use).
Plus do I have to crack open the gearbox to drain it, or is there a way to syphon the oil out?
Any suggestion welcome.
Surely CCBB would be pre '72 tax exempt??
Just a thought, but I think the advert gets the message over to, dare I say it, thirty plus people in a jovial manner.

They were made in the late sixties so just exempt:

Driving past an import specialist yesterday, I noticed a lovely Honda s2000 sitting outside, looking all lovely in shiny blue.
As this car has now been around three years or so, was I looking at the start of cheapish imports coming in from Japan?
Will I be able to pick one up for less than £10,000 at the end of the year due to Japan's stringent MOT tests? And would it be a wise move?
Yours in hope...

Fantastic car,if you are prepared to do the legwork yourself you can just about get a nice 1999 OTR in UK for about £11,000.
Strange that the 'they are stolen in Japan myth persists so much'.Oh well, sounds exciting anyway.
The rear brake discs on my 7 month old Golf have recently started to grind when applied. The car is going in to VW on Wednesday to be inspected. The grinding has got steadily worse over the last few weeks, which makes me think there is a fault rather than a stuck piece of grit or something. Braking power doesn't seem to be affected. I had a look through the wheel trims but the discs looked OK, no obvious scoring or marks.
A friend of mine knows the service manager at the local VW garage, and apparently this is a known issue with Golfs (along with pinking engines, coil packs, the list goes on). Just wondering if this is correct, and is there anything I need to know to avoid getting fobbed off, as a car on only 7000 miles shouldn't have got through a set of pads yet, especially on the rear. Hi,
Can anyone help me, i recently bought a Y reg Focus, with 12,000 miles on the clock. I have fitted an after market stereo to car. After having the car for around 500 miles, the engine warning light camne on one morning, the car drove fine still and everything was working perfectly. I decided to disconnect the battery, just to see if the light would come back on again when i re-connected. Fortunatly it didn't, however, when i turned my stereo on, the light came back on. If tried it a few timnes now, and it keeps happening, but if i don't turn the stereo on the light won't come on. Has anyone else had this problem, or do you know what i'm doing wrong.
I'd be very grateful for any advise,
Regards,

Try refitting the factory fit stereo and see if the fault re-occurs.
I have a 306 XSI, I noticed over the weekend that the heater does not warm up to it's full, also the water level in the radiator was quite low but not empty. The thing that was most alarming was an unusual substance in the radiator, the substance was white in colour and quite thick. I have a feeling the cylinder head gasket is on the verge of blowing.
What do you guys think?
Cheers. Read more
Thanks for the reply Richard, I last checked the coolant level about 3 weeks ago and it was full. Although recently I've had some work done on the manifold, the work carried out to the manifold required the head gasket to be removed. As we know once a head gasket is removed we have to replace it with a new one, which is what was done with my car. Since then my car hasn't really been the same, I have been experiencing unusual cut outs when the car is approaching idleness. I have a feeling the torque settings for the head gasket weren’t done correctly when it was replaced, but could a head gasket failure cause the car to cut out? Apart from the car cutting out it has been fine, no power loss, no fuel economy problems etc.
