Our 106 diesel has a 6k service interval that we reach every 9 months. It was last serviced 6 months ago and I've noticed the strong trend in advocating interim oil changes between the annual service which leaves me to decide if I should neglect changing the oil for three months or set the changing regim out of sync with the services???? As this is blatant advertising I hope this doesn?t get deleted.
We are a non profit making company specialising in executive toys for disgruntled motorists. All proceeds go to the Westminster and North Kensington Environmental Research Society.
Our latest lines are:-
Genuine second hand Gatso cameras in camouflage green ? each certified to have caught at least 10,000 motorists. As the name Gatso is copyright we market it as the ?Alwyn?
African Witch doctor dolls, complete with pins. These are nattily attired in British policemen?s uniform. With a certificate signed by one of the versions of Bogush.
A Pinocchio style doll with the familiar ?zoom nose? feature. Again to avoid copyright problems we call it the ?Chris Watson?.
By popular request these items will only be priced in Euros.

THanks Martyn. I wasn't complaining, just airing something I'd noticed. Hope you do get it together for Opera, for my money that beats the others hands down.
Could someone advise please ? A Colleague plans to buy an MPV and, because of the ride and suspension qualities of his old BX Citroen, he is considerting either the Citroen Synergye or the Picasso. The Synergye (I think) shares it's body design with Peugeot (806) and the Fiat Ulysse so, does the Synergye still have Citroen's renowned and unique suspension system and, is it adjustable, ie, for height as the BX was ? Also, does the Picasso have the traditional Citroen suspension ? Any advice/comment much appreciated. Read more
Actually Darcy as I fitted the rear body and hardtop to the Land Rover chassis at the weekend I felt as if I was doing just that.
My eye did fall to the spare LR in the yard and then a BX for breaking. Now a Land Rover with Citroen suspension....where's my tape measure?

BMW has announced that, starting with the 7-series, a single pre-tax list price in Euros will be used in those countries within the Eurozone. Other models will follow later. Adjustments will be made if national specifications vary. The selling price will vary, but only due to national taxation differences.
If other manufacturers follow suit, this will make it very easy to determine IF we are still being ripped-off in the UK as the Euro-Sterling exchange rate is now fairly constant.
If this works it could bring UK pre-tax list prices down very quickly to European levels. This might very well persuade me to change my long held views and vote FOR the Euro in a referendum. Read more

I agree that our infrastructure appears to be bad, but as you say, this is a result of the way resources are allocated, the competence of our politicians and civil servants and the way projects are handled, not the different tax or currency systems.
Take the fifth terminal at Heathrow. That took 8 years to go through public inquiry. The French would have simply given the go-ahead at ministerial level.
Look at the money (up to £200 million) being wasted on the inquiry into "Bloody Sunday". That was 30 years ago. Half the people involved are now dead. Who is going to remember details from that far back?

Traction Control and ABS warning lights on permanently. No problem with braking and connectors have recently been checked. Has anyone experienced this problem?. Car otherwise in very good condition, mileage 78000. Read more
Is it an automatic by any chance? There is a temperature sensor in the transmission that goes AWOL and causes the dash to light up like a Christmas tree with warning lights and messages. It's a well known fault, and a good auto transmission specialist should be able to advise. Cost of repair is less than £100 unless you go to Vauxhall, who will tell you to replace the transmission.
I had an interesting discussion with someone who has not driven in this country for around 10 years. He now drives in London and in some of the home counties. He tells me that (to him) is is very noticeable that drivers now, generally, are observing speed limits much more that previously and he concludes that this is probably due to the great increase in the numbers of speed cameras etc. Also, he feels that traffic flow in what were, previously, congested locations, is much better than 10 years ago. Just one opinion of course but it does give food for theought Read more
actually the answer is many fold
i) bring back cycle profeciancy training to the schools
ii) teach the kids road safety much more thoroughly, the art of being a good pedestrian
iii) design the road system much better, a new road you have never driven should be intuative and easily undestood with minimal important signage
iv) widen the roads, dont thin them, allow more room for the inevitable error
v) police the traffic, based on driver education, clamping down on outrageous dangerous drivers 1st, encourgage much greater breaking distance
vi) and train the traffic police much better, the standard and length of training some of the people driving a traffic car/bike is at its lowest for years
vii)- and dont build resentment by issuing tickets for minor speed infirngement when the speed was safe!
etc

Being a Lexus, it'll last a long time, unless you're doing lots of short runs. But, frankly 2 years is too long between service checks which detect safety issues, and it'll last for ever if you change the oil more frequently.
Don't forget service intervals are desiged to make the car cheap to run for the company buyers, who've no real interest after the first 60 or 80 thousand miles.
