I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A EUNOS ROADSTER 1.8.
THE FUEL CONSUMPTION SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE HIGH AS I ONLY GET ABOUT 60 MILES TO £10 ON A GOOD RUN.
HAVE YOU ANY IDEAS WHY THIS MIGHT BE OR IS THIS NORMAL.
I HAVE CHEKED THE AIR FILTER WHICH IS CLEEN.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE WELCOME.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I had an MR2 turbo jap import and recollect there being a sticker saying minimum 95 ron - same as normal unleaded here.

SWMBO has decided that she likes the look of the PT Cruiser (Having said she wouldnt be seen dead in one 18 months ago). Checked the Car-by-Car guide and it seems to fit the bill, so decided to look for second hand at Autotrader site, only 2 both with delivery miles. Are there any out there second hand and if so what would I expect to pay for an early example with no more than 40,000 miles?

Thanks in advance,

Hi

I was told by a dealer hat the new water based paint should not be polished for 6 months to 'harden' Does anyone have any comments on this , if not what protection agent is the best a pure was or polish

There was an entry on a related thread a while ago. From memory, your dealer is correct. The advice was to use clean water only to wash off grime. Having said that, a coating of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection will help, as there's no abrasive element to applying it.

Bit of a Sunday afternoon question:

Leafing through the papers, I've noticed the same format of registration on the cars in adverts going back many years. Often something like UVO 111. Can anyone shed light on what these mean? Is it a secret code for marketing professionals? Read more

Interesting, thanks

Has anyone had this experience and/or can suggest a cause?

I have a 1995ish K reg BMW 320i (E36) coupe auto. I've had 320's before and the handling was always great. So it was on this current car for a while until a few months ago when I started to experience poor handling in the sense that the front wheels seem to skate around on the road when the road is rough. No problem on nice flat road/motorways etc but decidedly unnerving on rough roads. Cornering also now feels less stable than before.

I've had the car to the dealers several times to have tracking and various suspension/steering parts checked over but with no improvement. The only suggestion I had from one garage is that the tyres I'm using (Uniroyal rallye 440) are "soft-walled" and that perhaps the previous ones (replaced not long before I started to notice this problem) were "hard-walled", thus giving a different feel. I'm not really convinced.

This is a really great car but the "ultimate driving experience" is being spoiled by poor handling. Can anyone please suggest a cause or perhaps suggest what else I might get the garage to inspect?

Many thanks

The only car I ever spun.

316 (!! company car) with at least 6mm left on both back tyres.

Damp road, deceptively solid feel to handling, no warning, whoops, a quick 180.

Sorry, but would someone give me back my Mazda 323 1.8, please? I like cars on rails rather than fancy badges.

Its that time of year again and I am looking at insurance quotes. Have had good quotes from Privelige, Esure and Eagle Star. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with any of them? Read more

Keithb

May be of no interest to you but Eagle Star include basic Green Flag cover and give full cover in Europe at no extra charge and without having to tell them. Also they give a month's free cover on your old car after a change of car. Esure and Privilege charge extra for all these. Eagle Star service is very good at their call centre but I have no experience of claims.

Medium hatch in for service yesterday. Oil capacity with filter change 3 litres.

It is a habit of mine to check the level before draining, none on the dipstick of this one!

Measured the drained oil inc that from the filter and there was 1.2 litres!!!!

How do they get away with it?

1.2 litres of oil?

My greasy mop of hair and beard has more oil in it than that.

I own an F reg Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 CDi, and yes I know it's getting old now, but it has now started to cut out ( on the motorway sometimes!! ) and then refusing to start. I have noticed that the engine management light starts to flicker and then goes out.

I do manage to get it started but then it happens again.

This problem has baffled the AA and various mechanics, who have suggested crankshaft sensor, ECU or even alternator. The AA even suggested the aerials at Heathrow !! ( I was at the car park that time ! )

Anybody experienced this before ?

Help !!!

Funny you should say that Richard. A Carlton was towed here last year by a DIY owner who had spent weeks trying to get it going (it was a little used second car).

Turned out to be a similar problem. One of the ign LT feeds was faulty due to the inner wire breaking with corrosion about 3mm back from its moulded plug, the outer insulation looked perfect.
