I have seen cars advertised with the above description.
What does this mean, exactly?
Thanks

Not totally relevant here, but as good a place as any to ask this!
I have used my shell pluspoints card on 2 occasions this month, yet the balance on the card is still zero, over 48 hours after the second use.
I have now received a second pluspoints card in my name (this time without the hyphen) and the balance on this card is zero too.
Also, the mountain of smart points I got on taking out (and using) a Shell Visa card, which should have been converted to pluspoints have also disappeared.
Of, course, ringing shell pluspoints just gives you an engaged tone!
Has anyone here had any pluspoints added to their shell account and/or smart points converted?
It makes me want to go to Sainsbury's for petrol. Less convenient, but at least reliable!
Writing this as an Air Miles collector, but more people may read this board. Posted on Air Miles Board too btw.

(Amazingly enough, despite the fact that I am in Brazil and therefore have nothing interesting to say, I actually work in Shell's LA HQ building)

I have a Mondeo 1.8 Zetec, new from Motorpoint. Great savings made and a great car to drive. BUT. The build quality is atrocious. All manner of bits and pieces are dodgy, mostly trim. However, in the last few days an alarming oil leak has developed that will neccesitate a visit to the local dealer where a grilling no doubt awaits on the purchase. All this on a car that has been on the road less than two weeks. It has only just done 400 miles today. The car was factory fresh when purchased as I saw it with all the manufacturer transportation protection at the Motorpoint site in Burnley as I had bought the vehicle unseen.
Any body else experiencing the same? I am having panic attacks as I had an ALFA 155 a couple of years ago that suffered the same build problems. Read more
It turns out the oil leak is a duff gear box speed sensor seal. Nothing major, the dealer was ok but could'nt resist commenting on the fact that the car is an Irish import. I did point out that if they were happy to give me a 25% discount and a proper price for a part ex. then the money would be theirs.
My new car is the first one to have air con.
But how do I use it?
Is it only with the temperature on COLD, or does it have some benefit on medium and higher temperature settings. I do not think I have climate control, but what do I know, eh?
Thanks.

A relative of mine has a 5 year old Toyota the aircon of which has been turned on 100% of the time. Not sure about fuel consumption, but aircon still works brilliantly (excellent dehumidifier in winter) and there have never been any problems with it.
Does anyone have any comments on the above model, is it any good, what should someone look out for etc etc??

Best buy would be a TDi engined model. They offer the best residuals and the best economy being circa 50mpg.

A month ago I noticed that the oil gage pressure on my 89 Chevrolet Camaro RS 2.8 was running very high (round 80 -instead of 40/50) I immediately stopped the engine, checked the oil only to see that smoke came out of the dipstick column for over a minute. I added 1.5 litre of oil but this did not solve the problem.
The oil pressure is still high when I drive it around (very rarely these days) and there is still smoke coming out of the same area, although less than before, perhaps because the oil level is adequate.
I'll add that the car is not overheating and that there's no oil leak although the car does consume its fair amount of oil.
I recently took it to a local garage who told me that the pistons were worn out, that there was too much back pressure and that basically the engine was on its way out. I find it hard to believe that given the type of engine and it's only done 55 000 miles. They added that it would cost £2000 to fix it...
I am at a loss to know what to do really as it is very hard to get advice for american cars from local garages. I suspect it's far less serious that I've been told, maybe something to do with the breathers in the system. What do you think the problem is likely to be and is it safe for me to use for the time being for short distances ?
Thanks a lot for helping. Read more
Having run camaros and trans ams for twenty years your first port of call is the oil pressure relief valve. This engine was not the best to come out of GM but basically bullit proof have a compresion test done as a matter of course another posibility is the oil breather pipe is blocked. After running for afew miles take the oil cap of if you think there is pressure in the rocker box it will show here .If the worst comes to worst and the motor is worn they can be rebuilt for very little cost.Use the webb there are some brilliant american webb
sites devoted to f body cars.

I'm trying to find a supplier of self adhesive chrome beading and failing miserably....
I need it to make a passable replacement for some chrome trim from my old Escort. Every Ford specialist I speak to mentions hen's teeth and rocking horse droppings. Every accessory shop remembers stick on chrome trim but no longer stocks it (shelves probably too full of window tinting film, fake carbon fibre and sticky backed white instrument dials........).
Has anyone got any suggestions for a, a company that can make up a bit of chrome beading for me or b, somewhere that does self adhesive plastic 'chrome' trim?

"Hockey stick" is also the term applied to the side bodywork sculpting of a Mk I Capri incidentally
just read a note on a usa web site that was discussing the pros and cons of leaving the air con on all the time. There was general agreement that the system should be left on all the time or used regularly to keep the seals in good condition and prevent premature failure. Until one "veteran" member stated that this was true of old systems using R12 gas, but the new systems use R134a and have polyalkylene glycol as the lubricant, a different elastomeric seal material that does not swell and, therefore, it is not necessary to occasionally run R134a systems to prevent leaks.
Can any air/con experts confirm the theory? Read more
I think you may find that all fluorochlorocarbons from America are trademarked 'Freon', not just R12 (as implied here). It is a generic name which has been used for decades.
Can anyone suggest the best nearly new small car for a 73 year old lady who:
a) Do not want anything 'electric' (windows, etc) and
b) Doesn't want more than a 3 door model.
Mileage will be more than just around town. Present car is a Polo, very pleased with it but wants something different. Grateful for suggestions. Read more

looking through some old photo's yesterday and found pictures of my old Triumph Dolomite 1850, red with black vinyl roof, also found pics of my old Avenger, metallic dark green with tan tinyl roof. Suddenly realised that I havn't seen a car with a nice piece of vinyl on the roof for years. Why is that? Read more
Would that be on a Corsair - rear pillars?
Thanks.
