How do I keep a cherished number plate?

I'm thinking of selling my car but it has a number plate I would like to keep. Can you advise me how I go about this? I usually have the dealer do this for me

You'll need to fill out a V317 form for the DVLA. It'll be much quicker to apply online than a paper application by post: www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-to-...r
