Best auto for under £2000?

I'm looking for a car for under £2000 with an automatic gearbox. I have found a £1600 Peugeot 206 made in 2005 with 28k miles on the clock. What was the Peugeots automatics like back then or would I best avoid it?

Avoid the 206 auto. The best small auto was the Toyota Yaris 1.3 or Yaris Verso 1.3 4-speed torque converter 1999-2005.
