Buying a hatchback - Golf or A3?

I want to buy a new car. Must be automatic and petrol. I quite like the Audi A3 sports back (150PS) and the Volkswagen Golf Match Editon DSG 125PS.

Both options have navigation and leather. Both are £21500. What in your view is the better car and which will have the greatest residual value in three years in your opinion?

We don't recommend either of these because they have DSG transmissions and these have been too much trouble generally. The cars themselves are fine as manuals. The 150PS is the better engine, and the A3 should have fully independent rear suspension, whereas the Golf will not have.
