Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 Advice/guidance needed on HUGE garage error 28 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, apologies if this is a lengthy post, but here goes: My 2003 Ford Focus TDCI 115 went in for a Cam Belt change 2 weeks ago (it's approaching 100,000 miles). They told me 2 and a half-hour job and it would be done. A day later they said the car wasn't working and a pulley on the lower engine had worn and a new one was needed from Ford, I said "fair enough" and agreed to the work. -

Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 TDCi Diesel blown twice - cause / incompete 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
They say it is a common fault with these engines and is caused by too much carbon What I need to know is, what else should they have checked / changed - the turbo is obviously going because of some other root cause - now they are talking about changing the engine, catalytic converter etc. - we have called two local Ford garages who say they would never do this unless catastrophic, and would change the parts first. The Ford dealers mentioned that unless the ETR system had been thoroughly cleared out, debris could kill the new turbo. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Possible fuel pump issues on 2004 TDCi & 2000 TDi 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Ford quote a grand or so to supply, fit and code a new pump for the TDCi one. I can buy a cheaper one second hand though and maybe get a local garage to code it ( I'm told there's one near by ). Does the TDi one run a similar fuel pump setup so thus talking similar money to fix? -

Fiesta Diesel, new cambelt labour cost? 14 Jul 2007 (Forum)
The engine is the Endura DI 1.8TD and I have realised that the belt which drives the camshaft from the chain-driven diesel pump will need replacing - probably actually overdue by now as I am sure the prevous owner did not have it done before 75K!! I purchased the genuine Ford belt kit including a belt and tensioner along with a large sheet of instrructions however I am somewhat put off doing this job myself - as I usuallly do - as the enclosed Ford instruction sheet imply that I need about six special Ford tools to do the job. -
Focus TDCI LX - 90ps or 110ps fitted? 10 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, New to the forum so please be gentle I've just paid the deposit on an 06 plate 1.6 TDCI focus from the local ford garage, however there seems to be a little bit of confusion about the spec of the engine on the car. Initially the ford dealer thought it was the 90ps engine as this was what was shown on their stock sheet. -
Buying 2001 Mondeo - target price? 23 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Now I've seen the ads for the Great Trade Centre, and will nip down on Tuesday to suss it out, but to be honest, having read other posts / forums etc, I'm unlikely to buy from there as I don't know my mechanical ar$e from elbow, and don't really trust that I'll not walk out with a lemon (might not work out that way on the day though!) My other option is a local Ford main dealer, who have a May 2001 (Y) Mondeo 2.0 Zetec estate, 16,00 miles, and through the Ford Direct scheme, on the forecourt for £10,500. I've done the test drive - it's very clean inside, FSH (actually an ex-Ford demonstrator), and has no external marks or evidence of maltreatment.
