Ford Focus - Cooling fan problems 30 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I've got a 59 plate ford focus 1.6 tdci which i got in march. Ever since I got it a couple of times a week my cooling fan runs on for 20-30mins after the ignition has been turned off. My car has been in for repair 7 times and the fault keeps happening. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1998/R 1.25 Zetec - Central Locking 8 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Is there some sort of actuator that would trigger the electric motor/solenoid, which would need changing, as the lock operates from the passenger side? Any idea how much a part will be from Ford and/or other supplier? Finally, I may try to install one of these widely advertised "remote" packages that gives you a remote fob to operate the locks. Any advice on these or recommendations? Thanks! -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - 07 2.0 Cutting out since purchase from national de 20 Feb 2010 (Forum)
It is with them again and they called me yesterday asking for more details! When I asked if they had taken it to a Ford service dealer as promised they told me they had been asking lots of people who they knew! How do I stand legally with this, I am very wary of driving the car as it stands, in fact I don't think I should be driving it. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 Car losing power when accelerating esp. up 11 Dec 2009 (Forum)
As a result it also appears to be drinking much more fuel, presumably due to the uneven nature of my acceleration! This has only been happening in the last week or so (I drove through a Ford a week ago-will the water have had an effect?) although it has always been a bit dodgy in this respect- for example when I would put my foot flat on the accelerator (especialy in high gears) not much would happen, and it accelerated better when I released my foot from the pedal a little. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Longevity of light bulbs... 15 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I've a suspicion that earlier failures have been associated with cheaper bulbs but I know for a fact that the current survivor is a Ford Motorcraft bulb - and so is the replacement that I have for the one that has just failed. I have only ever changed one bulb on the Mondy in 150k miles - and that was years ago with a cheap replacement, so why is the Focus so intolerant of bulbs??? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.0 tdci engine troubles 5 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Excuse the non technical language folks. I have a problem with my 05 Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci After finding the plastic underside of the engine compartment (the bit that follows on from the bumper) had been smashed, with about a quarter of it on the drivers side missing, my mondeo has started to feel like the turbo is intermitently not kicking in. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 Engine cooling system question? 25 May 2009 (Forum)
This question is about a 1.8 petrol Ford Focus. I would like to know from any mechanics about what the possible causes may be for the following symptoms : 1. When starting the car from cold in the morning and during the first journey the temperature guage needle after rising slightly then drops slightly (I sometimes actually see it happen) when for example stopped at traffic lights. 2. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.6TDCi Front suspension knock 12 Feb 2009 (Forum)
It's almost as though something is rusting together overnight, and it takes a few jolts to free it up. Any ideas what it could be, and whether I need to worry just yet? My Googling has revealed that Ford suspension bushes may not be up to scratch, but surely if it's a worn bush then the knocking would be througout the drive, not just the first few hundred metres, no? Many thanks in advance! Pete. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1998 1.8 Misfire 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a Ford Escort 1.8LX(Zetec) 1998. I was driving up the motorway around 60mph the other day, when I wanted to overtake, I was overtaking and there was some smoke from the exhaust and the car started to lose power. -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - TDCi "transient overboost" -- what triggers it? 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I've been having a search around to see what combination of circumstances triggers / engages the transient overboost on the TDCi motors. Ford make a big play of this feature in all its tech specs, but so far I've only found fairly vague descriptions such as " it happens when full acceleration is required" or "under hard acceleration". Nothing technical, or more detailed about when it happens, and the circumstances. -
Ford Fiesta (1989 - 1995) - 1994 1.3 Auto - Starting Problem 11 Dec 2007 (Forum)

2001 Ford Mondeo Duratec 2.0 Di EGR? 6 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Dear all, Have a 2001 ford mondeo 2.0 diesel covered some serious miles in it as its a taxi 186,000!!!! Had a problem about 5 months ago were the car was running fine at start up and after a few miles it would start spluttering if it was rev'd hard it would chuck white/blue smoke out of the back. -
Ford Ka (again!) - exhaust manifold/c 11 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The first join I can find in the system is where the downpipe joins the middle section roughly level with the engine sump. My (Ford) manual says that looking towards the ground from the engine bay, there should be four bolts spaced equally around the "top" edge of the catalyst where it joins the manifold. On this car, these bolts don't exist, and from what I can see, the entire manifold, cat and downpipe are one piece. -
Ford Ka - smell on braking/manoeuvring 12 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I have a Ford Ka, 2 years old, 12000 miles. The other day, I drove 20 miles, and then had to do a multi-point turn to get into a tight parking spot. Up to that point, there had been no smell in the car, but as I braked, reversed, braked, went forward, etc, the cabin filled with an unpleasant rotten smell. -
Escort van gearbox and fluid. HELP!! 15 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The transmission code on the VIN plate is 'W', which translates to "manual (5 speed)". Not helpful, but it's not the code for the MT or MTX box. The Ford TIS manual doesn't really help, and the CARDATA cd says use 80w gear oil. The owners manual suggests it's a "type B" box and to use Ford spec ESD-M2C-186-A, but the shift pattern earlier in the owners book suggests it's a "type A" box - and that uses Ford WSD-M2C200-B Can you see why I'm confused?? -
Ford Dealer Prices 25 May 2005 (Forum)
I wanted new pads and discs fitted to my current Mondeo and telephoned a number of local dealers in order to get quotes. The service department at Ford dealer one quoted £175 the rapid fit facility at the same dealership stated they could do the job for £155. I was very surprised at this mismatch so I telephoned dealer number two which is part of the same dealer group as dealer one and only located a few miles away. -
1991 ford fiesta 1.1 starting problems 12 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Garage never could work out what problem was as could never find the fault but towing always seemed to start the car. Garage eventually replaced all possible problem parts they could think of and referred to Ford main dealers without anyone ever really ever finding out what problem was. By end Feb 2003 problem seemed to have gone and car has been fine throughout 2003.. However, in Dec 2003 same problem starting has returned and we just dont know what to do. -

I have a second hand 1995(M) Ford Escort Saloon - 1.6 16v engine (had done 60k when bought and now has 90k on it). In the 18 months I've had I've spent in excess of £1000 just to keep it on the road. This includes (not exclusively!) -
Ford Escort window replacement tips 3 Feb 2003 (Forum)
My present employment situation leaves me time rich but cash poor so I have tried fitting the new glass myself without success. My car is a mark 4 Ford Escort, five door and it's the front passenger side that got smashed. With the help of my Haynes manual I have removed the trim and the old aluminium mounting frame but I cant fit the new window and mounting frame onto the rollers. -
