changed speedo now need to change miles 12 May 2004 (Forum)
Hello all. I have just changed the speedometer in my wifes car because the needle stopped working. (Ford Fiesta L 1990 year) The new unit works fine we now need to change the mileage to match the old one i understand we will need to declare this if we sell the car. How do we adjust the mileage without ruining the new speedometer unit. -

Ancient autobox problem 20 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The car - 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, 5.7 litre V8, Ford 3-speed autobox. The problem - transmission does not change into top gear until the car reaches 50-55mph, even with very gentle acceleration. Otherwise behaves perfectly - fluid level is correct, and fluid is a nice red colour. -

Deep water...... 19 Nov 2001 (Forum)
It's very low down near front wheel, apparently to improve airflow through it. I DO NOT drive through deep fords any more. As winter's on it's way, does anyone have experience of other vehicles abilities to tackle deep water. You see adverts of 4x4 S.U.V's fording streams etc. I thought that my diesel would be OK in water. -

Sub £1,000 motoring 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I’m not going to break down a list of cars based on size as again you need more flexibility to get ultra cheap motoring right but here’s a wee list of cars I’ve sold and run at this end of the spectrum that’ve proven cost effective and reliable. Ford Fiesta Mk V 1.25/1.4 petrol Ford Focus Mk I 1.6 petrol Ford Mondeo Mk III 1.8/2.0 petrol Honda Jazz Mk I Honda Civic 01-05 Honda Accord petrol Kia Picanto Mitsubishi Colt Mitsubishi Carisma (avoid the GDi) Mazda 3 petrol Mazda 6 petrol Toyota Yaris Toyota Corolla Toyota Avensis Volvo S40/V40 Nissan Micra 1.0/1.2/1.4 petrol Nissan Note petrol Vauxhall Astra 1.4/1.6 petrol It’s quite possible in fact to run a car for free or very near, well if you don’t include the fuel and road tax but the actual cost of the car itself. -
Reborn classics - your choices? 5 Aug 2009 (Forum)
T350 had hydrolastic suspension, too) would be able to put the wind up the Germans... Rover P5B - based on Ford DEW98 platform as on Lincoln LS/Jag S-type/XF (so a bit bigger than the original) with (if it would fit) Range Rover 3.6L diesel V8, maybe even Audi A8 4.2L diesel V8. I'd even quite like an estate version *flame war begins* Rover SD1 - base it, again, on DEW98 platform. -

Ford Fusion + 1.6TDCi - Damage to locking wheel nut key 12 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I took the car to the Ford garage in Bicester and had to get the locking wheel nuts removed and replaced with a new set, this cost me £81 for the new locking wheel nuts and labour. My gripe is with the F1Autocentre, I suspect that rather than using a bar to remove the wheel nuts the mechanic has used the air wrench, not seated the key properly and torn it to shreds. -
Mondeo Zetec TDCi 138 - 2010 Ford Mondeo TDCi gearbox concern 20 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Note the problem is definately more related to changing up (e.g 3rd to 4th 5th to 6th, than for instance 6th to 5th). Any help on this issue would be very welcome. Before I go back to the ford dealer I'd like to be armed with a bit of know how if possible. -
Ford Focus 56 plate 1.8 Diesel - Ford Focus 56 plate 1.8 Diesel - Smoke on startup 12 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help diagnose my car issues, info on car from Ford: Focus 04-08, 1.8L Duratorq-DI HPCR (115PS) Lynx, Sea Grey (Metallic) I've had the car a year and it has 74k on it. Purchased oil from Halfords in the summer to top up (wasn't halfords own but a brand), about a week and half ago when filling up used some of cleaner in the fuel tank to keep injectors cleaner - we have done this in the past. -

Ford Focus 1.6 Engine Troubles 5 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I have been quoted £1500 (or, in other terms, half the value of the car on a good day) for a replacement 'short block' engine, including fitting and VAT by Ford, and a bit less (£1k-£1200) by an independent specialist (using a brand new Ford block). Apparently piston ring renewal is not an option. My questions are as follows: 1. Is this a common occurence on this engine?
