    My car has just developed a clutch / starter problem, and the problem has been diagnosed as a Dual Mass flywheel failure. To rectify this it requires complete new clutch assembly new dual mass flywheel and possible new starter motor. My Question:- Can the dual mass flywheel be replaced

    The dual mass flywheel on my Shogun has failed. Would anyone recommend replacing it with a solid flywheel conversion ? Apparently the kits are supplied with an Exedy clutch plate equipped with larger springs to replacing the dampening effect of the DMF.

    Are dual mass flywheels ever fitted to petrol cars? In Honest John's column in today's Telegraph, the reply to 2 letters about clutch judder is that it is probably the DM flywheels at fault. However the letters do not say anything about them being diesel. Hence my question. Pete

    Hi, I'm thinking about buying a 57 plate mondeo 1.8tdci 125ps. I've read alot about problems with the dual mass flywheels on earlier models. Does anyone know if this is still a problem on the mark 4's. Also am i right in thinking these cars have a timing chain not a belt? cheers Steve

    Having read HJ's comments last Saturday regarding Dual Mass Flywheels, is there any way to prolong their life? eg. Driving style. What are the consequences of this part failing? Are there any warning signs such as vibration or noise. Are some Diesels better than others.

    1.9 Multijet 3dr Sports Hatch 2007 Garage seems to think it a single mass and not a dual mass.. Right or wrong? Has anyone else heard of this? I always thought they had dmf, but they said some have and some havent, but mainly the fiat vans had them...but to be honest id be alot happier
