OFT ruling on "car company that buys any car" 1 Apr 2011 (Forum)
http://www.oft.gov.uk/news-and-updates/press/2011/46-11 The OFT has taken enforcement action against used car buying company we********.com over concerns that its online valuations were misleading. An OFT investigation found that nearly 96 per cent* of customers who sold their car to we**********.com received less for their vehicle than the original website valuation, sometimes by hundreds of pounds. -
we buy your car . com .. any good?? 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi, as you see in the in the fore sale bit in here im selling a 1997 R reg ghia escort, whilst surfing around on the net i found a web site called WEBUYYOURCAR.COM that lets you enter your vehicle details then gives you a quote/price for a sale, its below what i wanted but i was given a price of £1050 without the car tax, and that's worth an extra £100 pounds so im tempted as its a quick sale and only 25miles away. anyone dealt with these people or any past experience ect or sounds too good to be true ect. i was told also that they are part of carcraft which by all accounts arnt very nice people. -

All - Anonymity 1 Mar 2023 (Forum)
I do wonder whether some of the occasional fractiousness on here (and I’m sure it also occurs on other fora (plural of forum?)) is because comments are made from behind a cloak of anonymity? If people had an open identity, would it descend to the occasional bit of name calling? -

VAG COM 11 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone have any experience of this system? I'm looking forward to giving it a go when I have the cash to buy all the bits. What is it capable of? Is it easy to use? Is it worth the money? From what I've read it's more involved than most manufacturers systems. -
2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.2 E (55) - ECU Reset 26 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Does anyone know how to reset the ECU without using VAG-COM or other diagnostic software? I'm wanting to clear the "learned" values (apparently it's a self-learning ECU?). I've read online that disconnecting the battery does nothing as the values are hard-stored - anyone know if this is true or not? -
Nissan Primera 18 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Dera Backroomers Nissan is rarely mentioned here. I am dithering about buying a 2.0 Primera up to 6000 pounds HJ's breakdown gives me the idea of an anonymous reliable car. Does anyone have some views on these as a good buy I have an idea that Primeras do not sell quickly. -

Anonymous cars in adverts 28 May 2008 (Forum)
I can't pin it down to a make/model. Do the advert makers take a real car and alter the exterior to make a anonymous looking car so not to upset the real manufacturer? The first one is for the Renault Scenic where the wife and kids get all excited, then discover it's the car parked behind that the husband/dad has bought...and they are not impressed. -

Selling a Registration Number - Costs & Hassle ? 3 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Looking on ebay , and similar numbers are for sale for several hundred pounds. Makes no sense to me , but if someone wanted to pay me such a sum I would be more than happy to oblige. My question is, how would I go about selling it once I found an interested buyer , and can i get a new number (any number, preferably an anonymous T reg number) and what would that cost me. -
Why the obsession with 'Line' 13 Dec 2021 (Forum)
When I think of the word line, the first thing that comes into my head is doing lines at school as a punishment. Second (and this is from TV and film rather than personal experience, honest!) is lines of cocaine!. Neither of which are positive associations with the word line. Probably just a fad which marketing types from various manufacturers jumped on, but I'm still perplexed as to who came up with it and why it was thought that adding the word Line to a letter or two was a brilliant idea? -
Life outside the forum 2 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I feel like I know one or two of you after speaking to you all online over the past few months. What I don't know is what you all do when you're not on here, and I feel I'm missing out on something. Mark's a lawyer of some sort, DavidW is a professional fenman and Toad is a country landowner with thousands of acres of rolling countryside, but apart from that, no ideas.
