Is the Volkswagen EA888 engine reliable?

I value your tech advice. I’m planning on buying a 2018/19 Audi SQ2 facelift. I am aware that common issues with the 2.0-litre EA888 engine have been PCV valve and leaking thermostat housing. Do you know if they remain an issue in this gen vehicle and whether there are any other common fault issues to look out for?

The EA888 engine has gone through several iterations since it was first introduced in the mid-2000s, but by and large the reliability issues have been addressed over time. Points to look out for in the Gen 3 EA888 other than those you have mentioned are carbon build up, which can be an issue on many direct injection engines, as well as failing diverter valves resulting in coolant leaks.
